This was on the heels of the same buoy in Manatee Bay registering 100.2 degrees on Sunday. For perspective, the average hot tub temperature is 100-102 degrees F...

That’s like saying the air temp is 200 when you put the thermometer on black asphalt. There is no way the water temp is 100

I think they are trying to scare the *hit out of people and distract them from what’s really going on.

Summer is Hot boys and girls in my area I have not seen record temps.
It doesn’t get much over 90 here and I’ve seen summers where we reach 95-100 when it’s hot.
There’s a scam going on.

If that’s the legitimate temperature of the water it would mean something for hurricanes.

I snorkeled a bit in the Keys. You can find bathtub warm spots, and spots that are quite cool, not far from each other, and near the surface. Same in the lakes I fish in.

It’s quite possible the surface temp is that hot in a few limited areas. But once you go below a certain depth in the oceans, it’s ALWAYS cold.

I looked up Manatee Bay on Google Earth and it looks like a shallow backwater. It’s not even close to open water.
