The House Oversight Committee hearing on unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP) next week will be centered on transparency, a bipartisan group of lawmakers said Thursday.
The committee hearing, spearheaded by Rep. Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.), will investigate the increase in sightings of UAPs and their impact on national security. Burchett said the lack of information from the government — during Republican and Democratic administrations — has eroded public trust.
“This hearing is going to be different. We’re going to have witnesses who can speak frankly to the public about their experiences,” Burchett said. “We’ve had a heck of a lot of pushback about this hearing. There are a lot of people who don’t want this to come to light.”
Burchett and Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.) said members of Congress have been “stonewalled” by military officials when they’ve asked for details on UAPs, including their possible origins.
“This is ridiculous folks. Either they do exist or they don’t exist. They keep telling us they don’t exist, but they block every opportunity for us to get a hold of the information to prove that they do exist,” Burchett said. “And we’re gonna get to the bottom of that dadgummit. Whatever the truth may be. We’re done with the coverup.”
Burchett, Luna and Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) visited a Florida Air Force base to meet with pilots about their UAP sightings, but the group was prevented from meeting the pilots at the last second by the Pentagon and was not shown the sensitive information promised, Luna said.
“And so, if the Department of the Air Force, if the Pentagon thinks they’re above Congress, they have something else coming to them,” she said. “We told them we were going to do this if they continue to hide information and ultimately, American people deserve the facts.”

I see where you are coming from. Doesn’t mean I approve of it.;-)
May a Squirrel steal your ah hmmmmms
Btw no offense intended
None taken.
Says a guy literally supporting the government.
You don’t see the irony?
Do YOU see the irony?
BTW, it is stunning that people on the Right are just as against free speech as people on the Left are. Talk about irony.
Every time this issue comes up on FR, the no-free-speech crowd comes running out with "Squirrel!"!
BTW, there is no half way point of free speech. We either have free speech or we don't.
Look at your issues once again. There should be an honest free speech about each and every issue...but there isn't!
UFO’s
Global Warming
Covid overreaction hysteria.
Biden won.
Men are women.
Drugs are good.
Children should see pornography.
You don’t make any sense.
Anyhow, I read UFO stuff when I was kid. It was one of my biggest interests at the time. John Keel was my favorite.
I actually know who Phillip Klaus is.
I never read anything by him.
I liked John Keel.
I read all his books.
I read Gray Barker, and Bender’s own book. Brad Steiger. Howard Mender’s book.
I know about Kenneth Arnold, George Adamski.
Read Jacques Vallee and Berger. Loren Coleman.
Frank Edwards.
That’s off the top of my head.
You don't see it, do you?
Trying to suppress the speech of people who are talking about the UFO topic is stifling free speech.
Given your history of reading John Keel, etc., I would think you would be supportive of these threads.
BTW, I don't know what these UFO's are, I'm just saying, "Let people talk and reseach the topic and report on what they know...and let the chips fall where they will."
It's the government--particularly the military and the intelligence community--that wants to kill this issue.
I can be an idiot from time to time.;-)
The government isn't really supporting this effort. They are stonewalling as usual. The new legislation is to make it a felony to withhold critical secrets from elected officials.
You don’t see the irony?
Only that which hovers around people who don't know anything raising a ruckus with those who do.
Why do you disrupt these threads?
His post #46 made perfect sense, every word of it.
If you are actually trying to have a rational conversation, you should identify what didn't make sense to you. I'm sure clarification would be forthcoming.
Lol. Now I don’t have free speech?
I was really in to this UFO strange phenomena field and came to understand later with age and wisdom it’s just another form of occultism.
I still have a soft spot for it in my heart and for people interested in it.
I don’t think people should be deceived by it, though, or go down rabbit holes.
Last UFO book I read was “Shockingly Close to the Truth! Confessions of a Grave-Robbing Ufologist” by James Mosely in 2002. First I’d read since I was a teen. I’d never heard of Mosely and didn’t know he was a friend of Barker and had put in the 1967 UFO convention in New York where Keel was named Ufologist of the year. It’s a great book about the field in the 50’s and 60’s and beyond and about his hijinks with Gray Barker.
Consider this: Your ridicule serves only to piss people off and to drive away those who are genuinely curious and anxious to learn something. Government paid shills, like Klass, ruined a lot of people's reputations as a means to to hide secrets. You are using the same techniques. If you want to express why you think this issue is based on trash, then do so with an intellectual argument backed with references.
None of us here know what is going on. Most of us want to know even if the answer is mundane. Pitch right on in with useful and tangible information, and you'll fit right in. On the other hand, we would like to have a decent conversation without your snarky sharp-shooting that usually terminates the conversation. We deserve an uninterrupted and free-flowing forum.
I’m proud of you for for your post #55. THAT was discussion that contained tasty meat. ;-D
