While just 7% of Americans are LGBTQ+, students at Ivy League universities are identifying as non-straight at rates as much as five times the general public.
Brown University made headlines after a student poll revealed a whopping 38% of their student body is not straight.
“Honestly I’m not surprised by that statistic,” an anonymous senior at Brown University told The Post. “At Brown, there’s no social pressure to fit into a box or hide your identity.”
Other Ivies aren’t far behind. In fact, more than a third of students at Princeton and more than a quarter at Yale and Harvard identify as LGBTQ+, as per recent polling — and campus sources chalk it up, in part, to politics and a desire to join an “oppressed” group.”
According to the Census Bureau, 20% of Gen Z is LGBTQ+, far more than older cohorts. But Ivy League students far outstrip their generation as a whole.
According to Abigail Anthony, who graduated from Princeton University with a degree in politics this year, a progressive and identity-consumed culture on elite campuses could be contributing.
“Since sexual orientation identity is largely non-falsifiable, many people will claim LGBTQ status to join the ‘oppressed’ group,” she told The Post.
According to a Princeton student newspaper survey, 35% of the 2023 graduating class identified as something other than straight.

It’s the modern day equivalent to pledging a fraternity or sorority except with no rules and umpteen variations.

Trust me, most these kids only identify as this on paper because they know they would never have been accepted into the school otherwise
It’s the new fad, today’s rebellion. Remember free love and Woodstock in the 1960’s? Remember how upset it made the WW2 generation of parents? It produced the ‘generation gap.’
There are and will be repercussions.... What we are seeing today is just a continuation of this steady decline of morality.
A few years back, “LUGs” were all the rage at elite liberal women’s colleges. That’s “Lesbian Until Graduation.” Then, upon graduating, reality hit.
Data show it is both generational and regional - proving that in most cases it is a learned behavior.
Our own neo-marxists are FAR better at subversion, propaganda, social-engineering and political-formation than the first-generation marxists in Moscow and Beijing could ever have dreamed.

I’ll bet a lot of those who claim to be gay because it’s fashionable are really closet straights.
Favorable treatment by LGBT admissions officers is my take.
40 years ago I took a class where I was the only straight woman amid a group of lesbians.
I never had any problem with any of them, but I noticed they all had soft power jobs, never make a lot of money, but have power and influence over institutions and lives.
Nurse, teacher, social worker. Later, I met librarians and yes indeed, an admissions officer at Princeton.
So favorable treatment not just for sexual variance but for leftist politics as well.
Was the class called, Softball for Women?
Lets see, 7 percent LGBTQ, 13 percent black, having a majority say over the majority in this country, how stupid are we?
How...fashionable.
