I wish I could say this is satire. Sam Houston State University now offers degrees in “Victim Studies.” I guess ingratitude and chronic discontent are educational skills now?
Thank goodness useless ignoramuses can now spend thousands of dollars to be indoctrinated into the worst of woke ideology and learn how the system is oppressive, even as they live a privileged lifestyle inaccessible to more than 99% of all humans. The American education system has become a blatant joke, but it’s not a funny one.
From Sam Houston State University‘s website:
The Department of Victim Studies is the very first in the nation! In this department, students have the opportunity to work with faculty who are passionate about issues pertaining to victimization and care about sharing that interest and their knowledge with students. Students in both the undergraduate and graduate program will take courses that directly relate to victims. Students also have the opportunity to participate in research with faculty, become involved in the community through civic engagement projects in courses and participate in events through the student organization housed in the department, the Crime Victim Services Alliance (CVSA).
The website adds that this department works with the Crime Victim’s Institute (CVI) to research “victimization.”
In other words, this isn’t a college degree; it’s a glorified course in woke, leftist social justice activism. It’s likely students will learn little that isn’t colored by leftist propaganda. What exactly will these graduates be fitted for, other than gluing themselves to tarmac or joining Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in Congress?
The website says the Victim Studies Department works with “local law enforcement and criminal justice agencies, rape crisis and domestic violence shelters.” The problem is that those most fitted to help abuse victims are not woke college students who spent four years in propaganda courses,

The university website does list potential careers for Victim Studies grads:
- Victim Service Agency
- Social Service Agency
- Police Department/Law enforcement
- Correctional Facility/Community Corrections
- Child and Adult Protective Services
- At-Risk Programs
- Legal Advocacy
- Nonprofit organizations
Color me surprised.
Anyone who signs up for those coarses is a sucker.
SHSU is, if I remember right, in Huntsville where the big state prison is. Many of the students are actually prisoners.
Here’s all you really need to know about victims, in a nutshell.
All that true victims want is to be OUT of whatever situation they are/were victimized in.
If they stay in the situation when they have a chance to get out, they aren’t victims anymore. They are willing participants.
And they don’t look back. They have been freed and they have no intention of ever being held as a victim again.
I was the victim of a violent crime and was very thankful for the Victims’ Assistance program provided through the District Attorney’s office in my county. I later went on to work for the Victim’s’ Assistance office in a different county. It was a laugh a minute /s.
FINAL EXAM:
Be dropped off Friday night in a ‘hood opposite your ethnicity with no ID, no cash, no cell phone.
Sunday night: Survivors pass.

These are the people that help molested, raped and abused children. Could be Jessie jacksooooon types too.
Sam Houston has always been known for its criminal justice program. Many police administrators and officers graduate from there. I believe the course is targeted at those who wish to study and support crime victims.
I read the article at the source, and it struck me as a cheap shot. The course has nothing to do with woke victim complex.
What’s next? A course of the techniques of Reckless Eyeballing?
I can see a whole bunch of resumes getting filed in the circular file rght up front.
Like I would want to hire someone who got a degree in being a victim?????
And anyone that builds up debt to pay for that degree will claim victim status, no doubt.
The most important element of victim assistance is to prevent the victimized person from falling into the victim role, which is characterized by anger, entitlement and learned helplessness.
It replaces getting a degree in basket weaving.
Now a University, in contrast to a college, offers Doctorate Degrees. One wonders, what sort of doctorate is issued by this glorified junior college?
Of course it does.
The margins on crap degrees are awesome compared to the money they earn from STEM degrees.
I don’t suppose the syllabus includes how to do away
with fake victimhood...
Since the new American Dream is to be identified as a victim, this course is logical.
Take the class.
Get an “F”.
Claim that as a victim (with the F) you should get an A.
