The government of Ukraine has introduced a bill on withdrawal from the CIS agreement on cooperation to combat trafficking of people, organs and human tissues to the Verkhovna Rada (parliament), says Taras Melnichuk, representative of the government in the Ukrainian parliament.

"The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine as a subject of legislative power has registered a draft bill ‘On withdrawal from some international agreements signed within the Commonwealth of Independent States’ in the Verkhovna Rada. The bill […] provides for withdrawal from the CIS agreement on cooperation in combating trafficking of people, organs and human tissues, signed in Moscow on November 25, 2005," he said on his Telegram channel Monday.

According to Melnichuk, the bill also provides for Ukraine’s withdrawal from the CIS agreement on cooperation on combating motor vehicle thefts and their return.

Not like Ukraine was preventing human trafficking anyways, quite the opposite, I guess they decided to just be honest now

These “anti trafficking” organizations are just gatekeepers for the traffickers.

Ever hear of Laura Silsby?

I would be surprised if Ukraine moves backwards into Russian levels.

2022 rankings
Ukraine is tier 2 (IN THIS SECTION /UKRAINE (TIER 2)

Russia is tier 3 (IN THIS SECTION /RUSSIA (TIER 3)

Definitions/categories
Tier 1 countries whose governments fully comply with the TVPA’s minimum standards.

Tier 2 countries whose governments do not fully comply with all of TVPA’s minimum standards, but are making significant efforts to bring themselves into compliance with those standards.

Tier 3 countries whose governments do not fully comply with the minimum standards and are not making significant efforts to do so.

Why would Ukraine want to have any agreements with a country (Russia) or a group of nations led by a country that is invading them?

Ukraine’s foreign policy are aligned with the European integration process and, as a priority, the agreements incompatible with Kyiv’s foreign policy priorities should be renounced if they are non-functional or worse, openly flouted by cosigners.

So your saying it’s good that Ukraine is not enforcing anti-human trafficking?

How interesting

Newsweek reports on the epidemic of trafficking in Ukraine, as it remains one of Europe's most notorious sources of human trafficking. Since 1991, more than 160,000 men, women and children have been exploited for labor, sex, forced begging and organ removal, according to a mid-2015 report from the International Organization for Migration (IOM)

No, There are UN treaties for this as well. I am saying Ukraine probably has good reason to cut all ties with a country that is currently at war with them. Is this not obvious to you?

Please ask a Mod to correct the attribution on your post. You’ve cited Taras Melnichuk as the author of the article when in fact it is a TASS article that cites Taras Melnichuk.

Ukraine never ratified its membership in the CIS and at this point extracting itself from the agreements of > members < of the CIS is a logical step since Russia is waging war on Ukraine.

You posted an article from January 2016.

In 2016 ukraine was rated as more corrupt than Russia but today Russia is far more corrupt than Ukraine in the ratings and Russia is a tier 3 country in Human Trafficking and is non-compliant, while Ukraine is tier 2 and improving.
