Sens. Dan Sullivan, R-Alaska, and Tammy Duckworth, D-Ill., agreed Sunday that the expansion of NATO into Asia is only a matter of time amid the alliance’s growing concern about China.
During appearances on NBC’s "Meet the Press" on Sunday, host Chuck Todd asked each senator, who described one another as close friends, whether they thought NATO expansion into Asia was "inevitable" over the next one to two decades.
"Oh, I think it is. And I think it was a positive summit. I think there was a lot of progress," Sullivan, a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee and a military veteran who attended the NATO summit in Vilnius, Lithuania, responded.
Todd noted that the number of times China was mentioned in the NATO communique jumped from just once last year in Madrid to over a dozen times this year in Lithuania.
"It wasn't just the mention of China, several times, almost 20 times on my count. But, Chuck, you probably saw the leaders who were there. It was the prime minister of Japan, prime minister of Australia, the president of Korea. Our Senate delegation had the opportunity to meet with those leaders, and I think that was a really strong signal with regard to NATO," Sullivan said.

All of them.
DISBAND NATO !
These people are out of their minds. How can you possibly make China and Russia the good guys? These people are put of control. It’s like everyone in DC shares one brain (which probably means someone is controlling all of DC)
There’s no reason to take any government policy seriously when it is as incoherent as this.
NATO was created in the aftermath of World War II, amid concerns about Soviet communist expansion.
The world has changed a lot in the last 70 years. Is NATO still relevant or needed?
I wonder if they would change the name of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, if it’s going to be an organization that provides security guarantees in Asia, far from the North Atlantic
Disband NATO. We are wasting our money and resources propping up the European Union. Let them provide their own defense, it has been nearly 80 years of us defending them, time to wean them off the American dole.
Disband NATO and the UN.
No. Put SEATO back together. Asians fight dirtier.
“NATO” is both a US military empire AND a device to get around Congress’s war power - which is actually a joint power of the People and of the States, cleverly set out so that BOTH People (House) and States (Senate) must agree to subject our people to the hardships of war.
For crying out loud! Can’t they stick to only nuking two continents at a time?
World War II in Europe ended 78 years ago.
WTH people?!
While I have no qualm with competing against BRICS on an economic nature and trying to prevent a sino-Russia alliance (which we only have courtesy of the Xiden admin), increasing NATO isn’t the way to do it.
This is the ongoing build up to a big FF event. Either a nuclear standoff or an alien invasion. They are getting more desperate every week. Something has to delay or stop the 2024 election. It may be the total collapse of the banking system. Stay tuned.
What part of the North Atlantic borders China? I can almost envision Japan in it, not.
People pooh pooh me when I bring it up but the draft is the answer to their prayers. They’d have enough young innocent American boys for all their wars. It only takes a simple majority vote from a warmongering Congress that voted 3-1 to send cluster bombs to be used in our friends’ country.
We should be avoiding foreign entanglements.
These senators need to look at a map then spell out what NATO really means! Why do we continue to elect blithering morons to office?
Repeal the 17th Amendment!
State legislatures couldn’t do worse!
It might be helpful if we didn’t have an administration elected by Chicom money, who are puppets of the Chinese Communist party and seek to reproduce here what the Chicoms have done there. Just a suggested first step.
NATO’s only purpose now is to threaten nations that do not teach kids tranny propaganda
