Former President Trump admitted that it was a "mistake" to put Christopher Wray in charge of the FBI, blaming it on 2024 GOP presidential candidate Chris Christie.
During an interview on Fox News, Trump acknowledged his poor judgment of Wray, claiming he only appointed Wray as a director based on strong urging from Christie.
"Yeah, sadly. It probably was [a mistake]," Trump said. "It was recommended very strongly by Chris Christie, who was, you know, a sad case. I mean, I watch him. He's a sad case."
Trump criticized Christie on his low poll numbers in the GOP presidential primary, who has spent much of his time on the campaign trail attacking the former president.
He topped the “never vote” list in a New Hampshire poll, which found that 46 percent of likely GOP primary voters “would never vote … under any circumstances” for the former New Jersey governor.
"You know how he's doing. He's at one percent, and he probably won't even make the debate stage," Trump said. "Now, Chris is a … he's sad. I mean, I watched him the other day. He said I built 47 miles of wall. I've built over 500 miles of wall. And that's homeland security statements. I had the safest border in the history of our country. I built massive miles of wall and would put up another 200 miles. Everything was built. They just had to erect [it],"
On the contrary, Christie has repeatedly defended Wray— who has led the FBI since 2017— claiming he has done a "very good job" while at the agency and that he would not fire him, unlike many Republicans who say they would on day one in office if elected.
Not only defending Wray, Christie also called the House Judiciary Committee's hearings on the FBI "theater."
The FBI has recently faced backlash after it launched a politically motivated witch hunt against Trump, starting with a raid at the former president's Mar-a-Lago home as part of an investigation into his handling of classified documents following his exit from the White House.
This week, the FBI was in the spotlight over its failure to prevent the January 6 protests and allegations the bureau has been protecting the Biden family from shady, overseas business dealings.
Now if he would do the same for the vaccines.
lol...Go Trump!
Nice equivocation and blame-shifting. Absolute cowardice.
> Nice equivocation and blame-shifting. <
I must reluctantly agree. Own your mistakes, and learn from them.
In this particular instance, Trump is missing at least the first part.
Trump DID NOT realize that people he THOUGHT were friends for many years were NEVER friends and only out for themselves!! Po,itics is a whole different ball game I think he know now there ARE NO FRIENDS in the political arena!! ALWAYS remember Pence was the one who fired General Flynn, Pence was the one who bought into the BS immediately!! Pence is SCUM worse than SCUM!!! Watching him yesterday I was in shock, I always believed he was a GOOD MAN, his interview with Tucker yesterday left me speechless, his attitude and mannerisms SHATTERED who I THOUGHT he was!! I NOW realize he would NEVER have stood up for our elections under ANY Circumstances!!!
Trump ate the last cookie while Christie was on the toilet and now there is no going back to their friendship.
100%. Watching Pence made me recoil. He’s an arrogant snake.
You're going to need a bigger toilet.
He may well get there. I don’t expect him to say all his errors in one shot. He has to figure it out because he has to honestly accept it himself, first. Besides every admission is going to be used against him.
I wonder if Meteor Crater is available?
I am angry at myself for not spotting the first time I listened to Mike Pence that he is a snake. He seems to have fooled a lot of people in Indiana, too - people who must be recoiling at how they were fooled by his posing. The only current candidate I fully trust is Donald Trump. There is one other, new to me, who seems excellent, but now I’m wary of first judgements. I have read all of Donald Trump’s books, going way back. His views of the world stage are strong and developed over a lifetime. We’ve read about his honest, generous father and mother. We’ve seen his good children. We see that he treats America’s friends as friends. The Biden team does just the opposite. We know Trump’s values are altruistic and solid and that he does good for all Americans.
Who was NOT a mistake? Stephen Miller. That’s all I can think of!
Honestly, he made many mistakes with his appointments. Hopefully he’ll have learned for his next term.
Who did you as President vote for in 2016?
In 2012?
In 2008?
In 2004?
How would you describe yourself politically?
Is the amount the US government spends on housing enough?
Should there be work requirements for SNAP benefits?
Name some Republicans who would make a fine President.
Name some nationally known Democrats who are too far left for your taste.
Why did I not want Muslims from certain countries to enter the US?
How should the country handle long-term resident illegal entrants?
How should the country handle recent illegal entrants?
Give me your current thoughts on James Comey.
Opine on the Obama presidency in about 500 words.
Is the nation spending too much on the DoD?
Was Martha Stewart treated unfairly?
How would you improve the election process if you could?

Snakes have spines.
“After Pence signed the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, he encountered resistance from moderate members of his party, the business community, and LGBT advocates. The backlash against the bill led Pence to approve changes to the law to prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity, and other criteria.”

Pence could have said that he used certified information from states and that the elector information from Georgia and several other states may not be correct and that any person with possible standing who felt any elector information he used was wrong should feel free to seek judicial redress.
So appointing him was bad, but keeping him for 3.5 and leaving him to Biden was okay?
