Republican presidential candidate and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Sunday attributed Donald Trump’s dominance in the polls to voters’ sympathy over the former president’s criminal cases in New York and Florida.
“At the end of the day, the [Manhattan District Attorney Alvin] Bragg indictment just elevated him,” Mr. DeSantis said on Fox News’ “MediaBuzz.” “I think a lot of people, including me, believe that it was a miscarriage of justice.”
The White House hopeful continued: “I think there was a lot of sympathy. But then, I think just dominating the media coverage.”

I think it’s more that the other candidates have not run very effective campaigns and they’ve diluted the nonTrump support. I suspect that by the second primary that second factor will change.
Interesting choice of words. I prefer to call it indictment CREDIBILITY.
Another reason DeSantis is losing is that he is more than happy for communist lawfare to take out his opponent Trump. DeSantis is just another greasy lawyer.

Someone other than Trump is under 40%…. It doesn’t matter if there are 20 other people running or just 1, the total available for them is not enough to be the nominee.
When it’s all said and done Trump will be the nominee with well over 60% of thr votes cast.
It’s not sympathy, it’s loyalty to a good man and we stand behind him all the way.

He gets free media day in and day out from the Foxes ... and he is spending his time belly aching about a prosecutor that got out of line and created a sympathy for an innocent man... GITMO sure played big on his means and methods of operation... not ready for prime time...
Based on who his donors are, he must prove that he is not a deep state wolf in MAGA clothing.
I don’t know if this is bad instincts or the affect of the GOP slime with whom he is surrounding himself. It is clear as day that if the rats can take out Trump with lawfare they can take out anybody. Only a sleazy political calculation or incredible stupidity could cause a Republican to pretend this persecution has any legitimacy.
That’s the problem no one cares what he has to say.
