DeSantis rejects Chris Christie’s attack-dog approach to Trump: ‘I don’t do insults’

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Sunday pushed back against Gov. Chris Christie’s strategy of launching attacks at former President Donald Trump — and discussed plans to ratchet up his mainstream media exposure in the crowded 2024 GOP field.

DeSantis, in an interview on Fox News’s “MediaBuzz,” was asked to respond to Christie’s claims that he is the only Republican presidential candidate to go toe-to-toe with Trump, 77, because the others are to afraid of offending the front-runner or his supporters.

“I don’t do insults so that is true,” DeSantis said. “I think just getting in this insult game turns voters off. That’s something I won’t do.”

DeSantis underscored that he and his campaign have been “very frank at our differences with respect to the former president.”

On the campaign trail, the Sunshine State governor has honed in on what he views as Trump’s failures to deliver conservative policy victories, such as the border wall. He’s also portrayed himself as a better manager.

I’m becoming apathetic, sorry to say. I want to see this horrendous president ejected, but after watching all of Trump’s Senate picks tank last year, I’m not looking forward to the inevitable 4 more years of complaining and excuse-making when Trump probably loses again next year.

The communists are crafty and disciplined and our voters are foolish and stubborn. The only reason I think Trump even has a remote chance is because Biden is a stupid invalid with a miserable record. I would of course vote for Trump, but I am a betting man and would place money on Biden as an easy consolation prize.

And he will bring the same weak game against the Dems as well.

We saw this already with George W, who would never fight back either.

Trump could easily win the nom, he has not a tiny chance of the general election.

Says you and your pearl clutching friends. I say Trump has already won the election for POTUS for a third time. And I'm one hell of a lot smarter then you are, obviously.

This Veteran

You think that makes you special? I find that most of you that expect special treatment for serving, served like 2 years in the army or something. Well I served for 4 years and I expect nothing for it.

Trump is probably unelectable.

Ya, it's not like he has been elected twice before. Oh wait, it is.

Speak for yourself. The vast majority of us appreciate a pit bull approach to Democrats and Republican establishment scumbags.

Until the issue of voter fraud is addressed successfully, no one, not Trump, not DeSantis, not even Chris Christie is electable. The Democrats and their moderate Republican allies control the voting process, especially in the six states that flipped from Trump to Biden in the early hours of the day after election in 2020.

Special?

No, my FRiend, but I do think that we Vets are an important voting segment. I think that our viewpoints are especially important at a time when so many, including Trump, do not appreciate the importance of protecting classified information.

Thanks for serving. Oh, and I did 4 active, plus a year in the State Mil Reserves.

Vast majority??

Nearly half the party won’t vote for him in the general.

And now he’s pals with Hillary Clinton. Scary....
