President Biden on Thursday authorized the Pentagon to mobilize up to 3,000 military reservists for duty in Europe, suggesting that ongoing U.S. efforts to deter Russia have taxed portions of the active-duty force deployed across the continent since war erupted in Ukraine early last year.
It was not immediately clear when — or even if — the Defense Department intends to mobilize any additional personnel. A Pentagon spokesman, Brig. Gen. Pat Ryder, told reporters that “these authorities will enable the department to better support and sustain” the enhanced American presence overseas.

Good question. I’m thinking maybe because there’s no draft there’s no protests. When they start drafting, if they ever start drafting again, they’ll be protests. People are comfortable having other people do the fighting for them. Or so it seems.

Yes, it was over half a million. It was far more than Russia has committed to Ukraine.
Have some old classmates and friends, old-time leftists, socialist types. They certainly were against Iraq and went out to protest, were fond of George McGovern or Ted Kennedy (or if too young, would have looked back fondly on them), called Cheney a "war criminal" etc...
I poll them regularly to see where deep-state opinion is. They ALL are on-board with arming Ukraine/confronting Russia and risking war in Eastern Europe. They still tell me Trump was probably a Russian spy, too soft on Putin, etc...
