Has Trump really turned on Kari Lake, one of his loudest cheerleaders? Arwa Mahdawi Arwa Mahdawi Her biggest political accomplishment was losing Arizona’s gubernatorial race in 2022 – and now Trump and his team think she might be too thirsty for attention
Sat 8 Jul 2023 09.00 EDT Kari Lake’s career goes bung Let’s say you want to be vice-president of the United States but you don’t have any meaningful political experience and you’ve never held public office. What do you do?
For most normal people, the answer would be to build your political career gradually. Start small, work your way up, and hope that one day your hard work gets you one of the biggest jobs in the world.
But Kari Lake, a self-described “election-denying deplorable” who has helped boost conspiracy theories about Covid vaccines and once called Anthony Fauci an “evil elf”, is not like most normal people. Her two-pronged strategy for rising to the top of the political world? 1) Say as many bigoted and outlandish things as possible, in a bid to generate headlines. 2) Become Donald Trump’s loudest lapdog.

ROFLMAO
I meant it. President Teump does have a great sense of humor.
You’re generally right about short hair, but not always. And I don’t think Trump is against her because Lake’s hair is short.
My husband loves short hair. I think it’s because ALL the women he grew up with always had short hair. Either way, too bad for him because I haven’t looked good with short hair since my 20s. But now I do get a full bob in the summer, for him and myself trying to be cooler.
My sister, OTOH, was a beauty queen and looked good no matter what hair she had including the short she wore for years before her death at my current age.
Ballot Harvesring: The most important thing for 2024!
One huge issue. Mostly agree.
Trump lost Nevada every time he was on the ballot here. A third time will not be the charm. Last Saturday he was in Vegas, got a crowd of 400 and claims of 500 outside. He’s a repeat loser here in Nevada.
Well, he does have some.
I’ve actually been impressed by him from his show. Trump is a complex character. It’s also concerned me having watched it all the time.
Nevada may be GOP proof with its well-oiled fraud machine. FYI, the wooden fake would lose Nevada far worse.
I know what happened... Did you read the rest of my post??????? I think it was closer!!!! Like 2004.
So, any bets on how long until we publicly see Trump too Lake to the curb? This week, this month, by the end of September?
NV elected a GOP governor in 2022, so it’s not impossible for the GOP to carry the state in 2024.
Vivek R will likely overtake him after the first debate.
This from a newly minted Floridian who remembers his promise he would not run for 2024. Go ahead. Explain that one.
Good. I stand corrected. If that’s true there is a path for Trump, despite what the other poster said.
“Vivek R will likely overtake him after the first debate.”
Vivek will annihilate him in a debate!
He has not dropped much in the polls, he does just as well against Biden as does Trump, there are just more people running. Once Trump falls or drops out, DeSantis will be just fine. This is a marathon, not a sprint—eight months to the first primaries and caucuses, over a year to the convention, and a year and a half to the election.
Does Glenn Youngkin have a Detroit? A Philadelphia? A Fulton County or a Maricopa County?
I'm assuming Virginia elections are not utterly corrupt, and that is only because I haven't looked into possibilities of corruption in Virginia. I wouldn't be surprised if there was some, but nothing like what we are seeing in the Swing States.
The most salient statistic for 2024 is from Florida. Trump carried Florida against Biden by 3%. DeSantis carried Florida by 19%. DeSantis showed the ability to make major inroads into areas and groups that are out of reach for Trump. DeSantis could easily carry GA, AZ, WI and NV. He would have an excellent shot at flipping PA, and possibly bring states such as VA and NH into play.
The entire premise of your argument is that the elections are not corrupt. I do not believe that. I've seen far too much evidence to convince me that elections in the swing states are very corrupt, and that until something is done about the corruption, we cannot possibly win any of them.
I can only conclude that you haven't been keeping up with the various articles here on Free Republic which has detailed the various types of corruption we've seen in the swing states.
Unfortunately, Trump’s narcissism will not allow him to graciously move over and let this scenario play out. In his mind, it’s all about him.
And it always will be. Something i've tried to explain on other sites is that Trump will go scorched earth on anyone he sees as a real threat for the nomination. He believes he is owed the nomination (and for that matter, so do I) and he will pull it all down before he lets go of the nomination.
We either win with him, or we don't win at all because he will do to any primary rival what he did to Ted Cruz.
Have you forgotten about Ted Cruz? I was a Ted Cruz supporter and was quite bothered that Trump started smearing him the way he did.
In retrospect, after having seen the vicious nasty opposition thrown at Trump, I can only conclude that he and he alone could have won that thing or withstood the onslaught of lies and accusations.
DeSantis is not going to win the nomination. I don't put much stock in polls, but from what I have been reading, he's losing ground and he's not likely to make it up.
We are going to get Trump.
And in my opinion, if it is at all possible to overcome the fraud and win this, Trump is the only one who can possibly do it.
Trump believes there is fraud in the Swing States. DeSantis is backed by people who think the elections were fair. Trump will try to overcome the fraud, but DeSantis would be walking into a trap.
I am so disappointed he listened to these GOP aholes who are trying to get him to take down Trump. I liked him, good governor, just got caught up in the big money donor class who hate Trump.
He really needs to fold up shop before he ruins his reputation in Florida. And it's beginning to happen.
Yes, it's a marathon, one he doesn't have the capacity to do. Sorry. He doesn't. He made a mistake in running now. He's not ready.
That's just a nonsensical statement that a never Trumper would do.
Glenn Youngkin has Fairfax County, a very populous county which is a suburb of Washington D.C., and thus comprised of mostly D.C. bureaucrats. As such, they provide huge margins for Democrats every election, and is the primary reason VA has two Democrat Senators today. Glenn Youngkin cut into that margin significantly, and trounced McAuliffe in other parts of the state.
Amazingly, Trump took credit for that victory, but in reality Youngkin deftly kept his distance from Trump throughout that campaign. Youngkin has gone on to be a very effective conservative governor.
A certain amount of fraud can be overcome, even in PA. Pat Toomey won two statewide races there. The fraud machine in Milwaukee was overcome in 2022 by Ron Johnson. I was just watching Fox’s Democrat commentator (Leslie Marshall) who was gleeful at the prospect of Trump getting the nomination. She should be, because that is Biden’s only path to victory.
