I see no need to have such hopeless despair. Look at the Glenn Youngkin model in Virginia. He flipped a +10 Democrat state, by combining Trump loyalists with moderates and independents and sent Terry McCauliffe packing. That could be replicated in most of the swing states, but not with Trump.
The most salient statistic for 2024 is from Florida. Trump carried Florida against Biden by 3%. DeSantis carried Florida by 19%. DeSantis showed the ability to make major inroads into areas and groups that are out of reach for Trump. DeSantis could easily carry GA, AZ, WI and NV. He would have an excellent shot at flipping PA, and possibly bring states such as VA and NH into play.
Unfortunately, Trump’s narcissism will not allow him to graciously move over and let this scenario play out. In his mind, it’s all about him.
