Has Trump really turned on Kari Lake, one of his loudest cheerleaders? Arwa Mahdawi Arwa Mahdawi Her biggest political accomplishment was losing Arizona’s gubernatorial race in 2022 – and now Trump and his team think she might be too thirsty for attention

Sat 8 Jul 2023 09.00 EDT Kari Lake’s career goes bung Let’s say you want to be vice-president of the United States but you don’t have any meaningful political experience and you’ve never held public office. What do you do?

For most normal people, the answer would be to build your political career gradually. Start small, work your way up, and hope that one day your hard work gets you one of the biggest jobs in the world.

But Kari Lake, a self-described “election-denying deplorable” who has helped boost conspiracy theories about Covid vaccines and once called Anthony Fauci an “evil elf”, is not like most normal people. Her two-pronged strategy for rising to the top of the political world? 1) Say as many bigoted and outlandish things as possible, in a bid to generate headlines. 2) Become Donald Trump’s loudest lapdog.

No, those are legal consults, not cheating or adultry in Trump’s world.

Apparently, Arwa has her own "lapdog".

First you show me Trumps path to 270 in 2024. Show your work.

It is absolutely not possible until the corruption is rooted out of Arizona, Georgia, Wisconsin, Michigan, Nevada and Pennsylvania elections.

We will *NEVER* win until the election fraud problem of 2020 and 2022 is dealt with, and so far I see absolutely no one trying to deal with it.

So we are going to lose in 2024, and it doesn't matter at all who we nominate.

I have no idea what happened in 2020 .

If that's true, then it is likely because you must have been skipping over all the articles posted on Free Republic about what happened in 2020.

To sum it up, it was massive fraud in a bunch of the swing states. Specifically Democrat controlled cities in the Swing States.

They simply fabricated votes until they got enough to overcome Trumps *REAL* 74 million vote record win.

Yes, but news of the breakup between Trump and Lake has been perculating over the past week at least. All that is missing right now is Trump stabbing her in the back and throwing her to the curb or under the bus. (not sure which works best for Trump’s normal approach).

Absolutely. We know Donald Trump would never cheat on his wife.

You say that as if you were someone who doesn't like Trump, and is merely looking for excuses to bitch about him.

Don’t forget it hasn’t been very long ago that Kari Lake contributed to and was a supporter of Barack Obama.

I am reminded of the time when that nasty reporter (Sam Donaldson I think) tried to take a pot shot at Ronald Reagan.

He was talking about the budget deficit, and he asked Reagan if he felt any responsibility for the deficit being so high.

Reagan said he did, because he "used to be a Democrat."

Sometimes people wake up. Maybe Kari Lake woke up?

You're calling unnamed sources from Big Media, news?

All that is missing right now is Trump stabbing her in the back and throwing her to the curb or under the bus.

If you're serious, then that's TDS.

Kari is masterful at working and answering zany left media on TV and in a reporter gaggle.
She has a talent not many politicians have.

I am a huge fan of Kari Lake - so much so I hope she is Trump’s VP. That is because I like her and trust her political instincts but also because she would be an excellent insurance policy for Trump. Knowing that pushing him out would only get you her as VP will tend to discourage efforts to remove him....or assassinate him.

No TDS so don't go there insulting me (Maybe re-read Jim's Notice from of the weekend).

There are numerous reports beginning last week about the the breakup of Lake and Trump. Several were posted on FR. Do you own reading.

And yes, the final nail in the coffin will be Trump speaking out. So, again, will he thow her to the curb or under the bus? Maybe it's tossed to the curb, have to recheck the common phrasing. I vote for 'tossed to the curb'.

If there’s one thing Trump has proven it’s that he is not unfaithful to his various wives, mistresses and girlfriends.

You're right....something about her....aka....self-serving?

She lost...and jumped on Trump's Merry Go Round. Clever??

She's a media princess...and that's all she'll ever be. I'm sure she's opting for a gig on Fox or any of the big ones. Or maybe she will go after Musk and the "Queen of Twitter" crown. lol

Yes, Kari Lake is talented, thinks on her feet. Too bad she’s caught up in the Arizona election mess. Maybe she can get a seat in the Senate but she still have to deal with Arizona’s corrupt elections.

I am an avid watcher of Steve Bannon’s War Room, it’s like many of the posts on FR, talking about delusional things.

I would say 50% of the show is really good, talking about Ukraine, global politics, etc.

The rest is elevating Trump to godlike status and trashing everyone else, especially DeSantis, the other candidates are so bad they are beneath even mentioning.

Everyone that came on the show before the midterms in 2022 were completely wrong about everything but they didn’t stop they kept right on with the delusions and chalked everything up to Democrat cheating and Republican Establishment undercutting MAGA candidates.

What the Trump MAGA crowd hasn’t figured out is MAGA alone can’t win a national election, they need 99% of the Republican Party to get behind Trump if he wins the nomination, you are not going to get that by trashing established Republican officeholders, like the popular Iowa Governor.

It is absolutely not possible until the corruption is rooted out of Arizona, Georgia, Wisconsin, Michigan, Nevada and Pennsylvania elections.

I understand the frustration, but it is possible for the GOP to capture some of these swing states in 2024. But not with Trump. Of all the serious GOP candidates in the race, Trump is the only one who can unite the Democrats. Nothing inspires Democrat turnout more than Trump on the ballot.

In particular, Philadelphia, Detroit, Milwaukee, Fulton County, Clark County, Maricopa County have fine tuned Democrat turnout machines, as the populace of those urban areas are comprised of huge numbers of individuals with an entitlement mentality. To them, the Democrat Party remains the guardian of the welfare state.

That same operation will be alive and well in 2024, such that those few states will determine the outcome of the General Election. (It’s no surprise that Biden held his first rally in Philadelphia). Florida and Ohio have slipped away from the Democrats such that deploying their turnout machines in those locations is not worth the effort, but such is not true in the aforementioned locations.

The only way to overcome these Democrat turnout machines is to overwhelm them with a huge turnout of suburban moderates and independents (similar to what Glenn Youngkin did in Virginia in 2021, when he flipped a blue state). These suburban voters (especially soccer moms) despise Trump.

People’s opinions are firmly fixed about Trump. He has a passionate and devoted following, but also a large contingency that deeply despises him. Unfortunately, his supporters top out at 43-45% of the electorate, and there is no reason to think the swing states will come back to him in 2024, especially as he continues to offend GOP leaders such as Kim Reynolds and Brian Kemp.
