DeSantis’s stumbles have GOP mulling other Trump alternatives

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’s weaker-than-expected campaign is prompting other Republicans, such as Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin and Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp, to take a new look at running for president, GOP strategists say.

These Republicans argue that DeSantis, long seen as the strongest potential challenger in a GOP primary to former President Trump, has failed to establish himself as the clear alternative.

“I think his high point was right after the last election, when he was the brightest spot on an otherwise somewhat disappointing night for Republicans,” said GOP strategist Vin Weber, commenting on the big DeSantis reelection victory for governor in 2022.

“Since then, he hasn’t come on as strong. It looks to me people are looking at it because he’s not as strong as he was before,” added Weber, who advised Republican presidential campaigns in 1996, 2004 and 2008.

Weber argued Trump also looks vulnerable, despite his massive polling lead, because of his mounting legal problems, which could make the race look more attractive to Youngkin and Kemp.

Remember when the ENTIRE media and GOP insiders used to use "frontrunner" to refer to the GOP's preferred candidate to get support, like it was their first name, examples Frontrunner McCain and Frontrunner Romney.

And of course there was story after story about how WE ALL had to get behind the "frontrunner" so we could be "unified."

Well it's clear who the "frontrunner" is right now, by OVERWHELMING numbers, yet they are desperately trying to find somebody, anybody else so that the "frontrunner" DOESN'T get nominated. Quite a switch, eh??

Because the "frontrunner" is not one of them, and they want to take out the "frontrunner," because if he gets the nomination GASP! he might win!!

It's comical watching these people.

Vin Weber??? Good Grief!!

The GOP establishment needs to realize that they are toxic. Whoever they support will go down in polls. It happened with DeSantis when he changed his position on Ukraine and received W’s support.

“AGAIN...THE HILL

THE HILL IS LIKE A BAD CASE OF TAINTED FOOD.”

I know. But it’s interesting to see this stuff because this is what THEY read. And they talk to themselves about these pieces at lunch, etc. And they’re SO out of touch.

Unless they can find a way to overcome Demonrat cheating (legal and illegal) in the 5 key cities in the 5 key states (and I don’t see/hear them doing anything at all), it doesn’t matter who the Republican candidate is.

They did in 2020 and 2022. Yet they expect us to vote for their hand selected traitors.

We will have to wait for the debates.

I’m considering Vivek Ramaswamy and Ryan Binkley.

NOTE: I do not trust any politician to end leftist migrant mercenary-based political takeovers who has not called for invoking Article 44 to get the US out from under the Refugee Convention.

And my distrust extends to Trump and DeSantis.

Quotes from the 1951 Refugee Convention:

Article 23 - Public relief

The Contracting States shall accord to refugees lawfully staying in their territory the same treatment with respect to public relief and assistance as is accorded to their nationals.

Article 17 - Wage-earning employment
....
2. In any case, restrictive measures imposed on aliens or the employment of aliens for the protection of the national labour market shall not be applied to a refugee who was already exempt from them at the date of entry into force of this Convention for the Contracting State concerned, or who fulfils one of the following conditions:
(a) He has completed three years’ residence in the country;
....
(c) He has one or more children possessing the nationality of the country of residence.

Article 34 - Naturalization [and getting the right to vote]

The Contracting States shall as far as possible facilitate the assimilation and naturalization of refugees. They shall in particular make every effort to expedite naturalization proceedings and to reduce as far as possible the charges and costs of such proceedings.

Yes, rummage through their closet full of unknown dwarfs. Last I heard Trump is polling at over 50 percent nationwide and in many states well over 50 percent. Do they honestly believe that they’ll find anyone that can beat him? I suspect that the “republican” establishment is working with the Media-Dem Party’s lawfare operation, hoping that Trump can be kept off the ballot altogether.

That’s the purpose, to keep Trump off the ballot. But we’ll just write him in. He has a nice short, well-known name.
