You would still need better energy storage to do the longer and tougher shaving of peak power. Conservation of momentum energy is a plus (but not at the cost of payload robbing (Heavy/Dangerous) batteries).
As power requirement increases the need for an engine to match becomes imperative to get over the next upgrade.
This is where the huge train engines come in.
And on grades the engines are running the train almost entirely.
Diesel electric trains uses the electric part as a transmission just as large haul trucks do.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a train backed up to a drop cord.

Soooo, why did Rivian's stock (RIVN) shoot up a huge amount? Hmm??? Talk about stock market manipulation. That company is losing BILLIONS, and yet it's stock skyrockets. Wall Street guys are crooks. It will eventually tank leaving thousands holding the bag.

Who wants an electric pickup truck?

With the present technology, only someone who wants to show how much money they have. When you load an electric pickup with cargo, you can't hardly go anywhere with it due to the range loss. It just doesn't work.

they’re still wary about purchasing one because of reliability concerns, lack of trained mechanics, the batteries blow up real good, lack of charges, are crap when it gets cold outside, repair costs for minor fender benders, absence of charges, price of quick recharge price, oh, and the cost to get into one is prohibitive.

I have to go back to my locomotive mechanic buddy. I forget if there is an issue scaling down that design to fit a car.
Next, the whole point of the green crazy cult is to stop using oil and nucular to impoverish everyone

“Install a bank of high capacity capacitor”

Kaboom if it shorts out.

Does this mean that there is an undeclared boycott going on, people prefer ICE cars over electrics, or that they are just too expensive?

“even though consumers are showing more interest in EVs, they’re still wary about purchasing one because of price or charging concerns.
In other words, upon closer examination,”

There are a lot of golf carts in the village where I live. More and more people are opting for gas powered versions rather than electric versions.

The battery pack costs over $30k to replace. And who is going to buy a used one in five years?

Couple of years ago, I did the Audi E-vehicle test-drive....nice SUV. Afterwards, the wife and I asked questions. The battery thing came up. So, as he explained...around the 6th to 7th year....you’d have to replace the batteries. It was a simple designed process (about half-a-day to pull the ‘stack’ out and replace. What he couldn’t tell me was the cost of disposal (they’d yet to have a replacement to occur). I thought this was odd....had to be a disposal fee. Never bought the vehicle.

Last year, the wife and I checked out the Mini e-car. Same story. Batteries will need to be replaced. Cost on this already established (in the range of 2,000 Euro or $2,400). But again, I asked about a disposal fee and they couldn’t say.

Personally, I think the charge business will double in nature after x-number of charges.

One key thing that does seem to be interesting....e-cars have half the number of parts. I’m of the belief that as you buy such a vehicle....this is probably a 15 to 18 year purchase.

Well, the clear case here is that so called workable measures producers need to say NO, NO, NO, and a resounding Hell NO, before the subsidy ridden glitterati shut down our world and “We the People” are somehow forced to go along.

I don’t see that happening, but by then it would be a bit late, after the reliable clean coal fired electricity producers have been driven from the scene. Wait, aren’t we at least half way there already???

The people who needed EVs for ‘social acceptance’ and to be able to hold their noses up at others, claiming that ONLY they care about saving the planet aren’t that many, after all.

Now EVs have to sell to the general public, most of which cannot afford to have extra cars lying around to show off to their friends at social gatherings, but instead simply want ONE VEHICLE capable of taking them from Point A to Point B, reliably, with Point B sometimes being quite far.

Large capacitors can explode even when operated within limits.

I agree on hybrids, as you suggest. I, too, would have liked to see a hybrid diesel, as it would have been pushing 60 to 80 mpg, and would be as easy to drive as a gasoline car. But diesels are pretty much through, sadly.

EVs can be a good choice for urban/suburban folk who only need a car to commute to work or run errands around town. In that use case, an EV can make a lot of sense. For me, this would be a great second car as I could use my ICE vehicle for longer trips and for inclement weather.

Also, an EV can be a great car for a wife, as she won't have to worry about oil changes or having to drive to a gas station where she has to pump her own gas.

'So what happens when you get a flat tire....?

No spare tire in the interest of performance.

But, but, but...more charging infrastructure is planned and coming!
Money that could (should) be used to repair the highways.
Pot-holes or Charging Stations.
Consumer demand is not a factor, Big Three production is based on the union contracts.

You mean people are not paying twice as much for a car that has half the power?
