Missing Girl Found At Marine Corp Base, Aunt Claims She Was ‘Sold To Soldier For Sex’

A 14-year-old girl who’d gone missing after running away from home last month was found inside the barracks of Marine Corp Camp Pendleton, according to authorities.

An officer of the U.S. Marine Corps was taken into custody in San Diego in connection with allegations of sex trafficking involving the minor.

The girl, who has learning disabilities, ran away from home on June 9. Her grandmother reported her missing to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department a few days later.

“The grandmother reported to deputies that the teen had previously run away before, but always returned home quickly,” Melissa Aquino, SDSO’s media relations officer said.

Captain Chuck Palmer of Camp Pendleton-based 1st Marine Logistics Group confirmed a Marine, who has not yet been identified, had been taken into custody for questioning by the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS).

The old free USA is gone. This is "your" Marine Corps only in the sense that you're made to pay for it.

They do not fight for freedom, nor any interests except those of a cabal of wealthy gangsters who hate you. They will massacre your family if so ordered.

“Wasn’t her first rodeo”. Are you saying the 14 year old girl was competent to make informed consent, therefore at fault in a situation like that? I don’t care HOW “precocious” a 14 year old is, they are, at best or worst, totally messed up through the fault of some evil adult somewhere.

In the old Corps, at Pendleton and LeJeune you didn’t have 14 year old barracks girls. We used to just have an Eagle Globe and Anchor and USMC on the front pocket. Now they have their names on the front shirt pocket also.

Maybe this is why.

I’ve lived in Oceanside and Fallbrook, twice each. Many of those marines are great guys and some are truly messed up IMHO. I had plenty of encounters with them in the local bars and such. Seems to me that these young men are looking for an identity, trying to prove themselves, and I hope the Corps helps them. The only thing that surprises me about this was she was found in the barracks. Hell, in another office in the same building as mine in Oceanside they were filming gay porn... specializing in young gay marines.

My thoughts exactly.

Just what was a soldier doing onboard a Marine base?

No way a USMC officer is the kidnapper. Moron reporter likely has her facts wrong.

The Navy and the USMC publish their Court Martial results on line.

Peruse them at your leisure and you'll see that stupidity comes in all paygrades.

Navy Trial Results

Marine Corps General and Special Court Martial Dispositions

I remember not long ago a Navy Surface Warfare Officer got busted in Mayport in one of those underage sex sting operations. He showed up to a motel thinking he was hooking up with a 12-year old deaf girl and found the cops waiting for him.

No speculation from me. There’s more to come and we will get a lot of incorrect info along the way.

Every entity reporting on this has their own agenda to further. There will be plenty to sift through later.

Our USMC infantry unit was stuck on an AF base once for 2 days when our C-130 broke. We marched to the chow hall the next morning for breakfast. They actually asked how you wanted your eggs cooked, or if you wanted an omelet.... and nobody was even slightly abusive to us.

We were stunned. We had no idea some places in the US military treated people like human beings.

This is a poorly researched and written article that most likely misidentifies an E-4 or E-5 NCO as an Officer. First Clue: officers do not live in barracks.

The sensational claims of the relative are generating an almost equal level of emotional responses here on FR. Does anyone has this story in the Orange County Register?

Only US citizens can be officers, or warrant officers, in the United States armed forces. The author of this article didn’t know that members of the United States Marine Corps are not “soldiers” so probably didn’t know that all servicemen aren’t called “officer”.

well, no. there is base housing, dependents abound.
My kids were all over Quantico- not in anyone’s room, but that happened then also ( mid 90’s)
A Marine got discharged for having a young girl living in his room in the barracks.

As a former marine, there are some many questions I have. How does a 13yr old get on base without their parent? Civilians need a visitor’s pass to get on base. Who authorized that? Without passing judgment, until a full investigation is complete. But it sounds like a lot of unknowingly services members are going to get in trouble.

Unknowingly service members? The Marine base is all about knowing the rules and regulations I thought?

It is not unheard of to have a girl or woman duck down passing the entrance gate and find themselves in the male barracks (much like at college dorm rooms . ) I agree there are more questions than answers but more likely there were KNOWINGLY service members involved… even if just concealing her presence.

Also an inactive Marine and I personally took numerous civilians onto Camp Pendleton, and easily. Had the DOD sticker on my car and was not stopped at the gate. No mystery, as it happens daily. I am more curious as to how he kept her there for so long without her being discovered. The only way is if he was of such rank as to rate having a solo room, which used to be SSGT or above. If he is lucky, she duped him with a fake ID listing her age as 18 or higher. If he is not to smart, he either did not care about her age or took her word for it.

Yeah...the only people I saw marching at Homestead were in correctional custody. And they were generally there because they were given an inch, and took a mile.

America really needs to have attack dogs, at the ready at a moments notice. I hate to see the laxity that I experienced in the AF trickling into our warrior population. I hope that those units can still police themselves, to an extent.

You are not naive, you just have a sense of honor. When it comes to child sex, and sex trafficking you would be surprised who is involved. Yes a Marine Corps Officer could have been involved and I would be surprised if he was the first. There have child porn arrests on other military bases.

It is a good bet that a family member sold her...and has been each time she has “run away”.
