Victor Davis Hanson is the Martin and Illie Anderson Senior Fellow in Residence in Classics and Military History at the Hoover Institution, Stanford University, a professor of Classics Emeritus at California State University, Fresno, and a nationally syndicated columnist for Tribune Media Services.
He is also the Wayne & Marcia Buske Distinguished Fellow in History, Hillsdale College, where he teaches each fall semester courses in military history and classical culture.
Victor discusses current political and social events and ideas, and current and past cultural trends.
Hanson calls Biden “ a total veneer—a construct, an artifact for the far-left Jacobins who have taken over this country.” But he predicts that Biden will have “a rendezvous with Nemesis” if the Republicans “can get their act together.”
Worst in US history although Lincoln killed more..so far.
This subject always infuriates me. People will claim Jimmy Carter was the worst. Or maybe FDR. And certainly there are cases to be made for Obama and Biden. But people have a very very short memory when they don’t recognize Lyndon Baines Johnson as the worst president ever.
His Great Society is still decimating our economy and our culture today. His blunderous mistakes in the Vietnam War cannot, and should not be forgotten.
Before Biden, I thought that James Buchanan was the worst for letting the country fall apart in 1860-1861.
And he’s likely the only president to have gained the office through active participation in the conspiracy to murder of his predecessor. Lyndon Baines Johnson was a monster.
You make a great point, but, even with what Hanson is saying every single bit of this lies with one entity and only one entity.... THE AMERICAN VOTER.
At every single level of government, from the smallest city/town council, various government boards, all the way to the Feds, it is solely the voters fault.
For the voter is the one that has, for decades, picked the ‘lesser of two evils’, just picked someone based on name recognition, political party affiliation, campaign promises that are never fulfilled-they’ll do it next time, inability or unwillingness to give someone else a try over the one that has been screwing all of us over and over and over.
None of this, from all the stuff going on in schools to the corrupt clowns in Congress to the absolute moron in the White House, would be happening if the voters paid more attention and didn’t make decisions based on nonsense.
For example....voting for Kemp in Georgia because he “was good on Covid”. Yes, people used that as a reason to re-elect him. They pay ZERO attention to the damage he has done and continues to do in the state, only that he “was good on Covid”.
Thanks for mentioning that. Lyndon Baines Johnson has the blood of over 50,000 dead servicemen on his hands.
And even if some of the allegations regarding his involvement in the JFK murder are even partly true, then he is complicit in that murder as well.
“The government you elect is the government you deserve.”
— Thomas Jefferson
Wilson and FDR.
Whichever one is currently in power is always the worst ever.
So many candidates for so many reasons. So many Democrats....
And I thought Obomination was awful.
Those two are just a couple of racist miscreants.
Other than at Thomas Jefferson, can you really name a good Democrat President?
Jackson, obviously
Really difficult to choose, though.
I remember Rush said his father used to tell him the worst was Franklin D. Roosevelt and we will never recover from getting used to socialism and permanent government programs to devote to every problem. Rush thought a second and said “Actually we are living like that today due to FDR.”
Him and his micro-managing Secretary of Defense, McNamara.
He turned voter fraud into a fine art, too-he was connected to a couple of mysterious deaths before-and after the Kennedy assassination as well-I first heard that from my mom-she practically called him the anti-Christ-by the time I was in my mid-teens, I agreed. Evil monster of a man-other presidents have been as bad in office, but LBJ appears to have been born evil...
