Why Ron DeSantis' Disney fight matters
Fox News ^ | July 5, 2023 | Dave Rubin

The true test of leaders is when they put aside political self-interest.

In Florida, political self-interest rose to an all-time high, following endless calls for Gov. Ron DeSantis to surrender his fight against Disney and the woke mob. Disney, the largest employer in the state of Florida, has pulled the strings of Tallahassee politicians for over 40 years.

Those strings were finally cut when DeSantis became governor.

Most standard politicians would’ve caved to the public pressure overnight. Especially if they were even contemplating a run for president. But DeSantis didn't. And his display of courage and conviction in the fight against Disney is exactly why he should be the next president of the United States.

Political memories are notoriously short, but let’s not forget: Disney took a shot at Florida first. The Florida legislature had passed a bill protecting children from sexualized content in classrooms, a law that earned the overwhelming favor of countless teachers and legions of parents.

This article is a good review and reminder of the source of the Disney fight and what DeSantis has accomplished by taking them on. Once again, actions, not just talk.

DeGobalist should stay in FLA and keep fighting Disney.
He’s not very impressive on the Campaign Trail.

In spite of premature clamor that the race is over, DeSantis maintains some interest among the red-headed stepchildren of the Republican Party.

Not impressive? Do you say this from first hand experience?

I disagree. I saw him in person last month in Minden. He was energetic and engaging, the crowd reaction was great. I've watch many videos of his events and interaction and none came off as unimpressive.

I've been to at least four Trump events. The are very comparable. A key difference is that Trump is an entertainer, he rambles as he measures the crowd response. More than once I saw him say something that fell flat, he'd immediately pivot to something safe to reenergize that crowd. That is his strength.

I'm still getting a feel for DeSantis, he's more measured and deliberate. But that is not a criticism, just a difference. He is saying what the audiance wants to hear, good deliver, energetic, and good response. And no mention of Golden Escalators.

Is this the same homosexual Dave Rubin who often points out that Ron DeSantis is not “anti-gay,” and makes his case by telling his viewers about the baby gifts he received from Mr. and Mrs. DeSantis after he and his “spouse” bought themselves a couple of IVF babies?

I don’t know who Dave Rubin is, I’m always distracted with Rubin, as in Jennifer Rubin with the Washington Post. Anyway, if what you say is true about Rubin, that makes his support for DeSantis’ fight with Disney more interesting. Even perverts have limits on what is acceptable.

I sure hope Rob wins this battle against a mouse.

He can then run on a Mouse-Slayer Platform!

this article is a joke.

It isn’t in deSantis “self interest” to cave to Disney.

What’s left of his campaign would collapse if he did.

I don’t care how he deals with Disney, he lied about completing term of governor and has done other things against the interest of Citizens of the USA (shipping around illegals instead of deporting them. Yes he as governor could do what responsibility Fed (Bribem & Co) is not doing which is secure our border and protect Citizens from attacks. How many dead and injured (physically and financially) are our governors gonna allow from illegals and all they bring with them?)
Wrong friends wrong actions on a number of things and lies.
DeSantis is not good material for Governor even.

Just how is DeSantis or any governor supposed to deport illegal aliens? They, except the New York Democrat governor? don't have that authority. I do think I read that she had shipped some overseas.

DeSantis, Abbott, and others are doing what they can, very successfully to put the invasion in the public spotlight. We should cheer and encourage them to continue, not criticize because he's running against Trump. (Again, had Trump negotiated with Congress and actually built a walk, got legislative remedies instead of fleeting EOs, maybe we wouldn't be in the mess we are in today.)

Stop trying to explain logic to the Trumpers who are so deluded by Trump there is literally nothing he or anyone else can do to change their minds.

Think back during the pandemic when Florida was opening up before everyone else and DeSantis received near 100% support on FR, now that he’s running against Trump, he’s scum and undeserving of support.

The Trumpers forget that Trump supported every Democrat alive in NY, even giving money to Schumer and Clinton, the Clintons were guests at his wedding to Melania, somehow that is excused and DeSantis is the traitor.

Finally the correct narrative. Disney started the fight.

They didn’t considered the horrible backlash. The public has now been awakened to the “groomer” agenda the California based organization was promoting. The theme park attendance was collateral damage.

I can see you criticizing Rubin's life-style choices - if that is what you are doing.

At the same time, you could praise the life-style choices of Mr. and Mrs. DeSantis. And you could also support Governor DeSantis as he pushes back on dark cultural forces.

I love President Trump's bombastic rhetoric; I really do. But not everyone does.

Actually, that makes Rubin a hypocrite, a political tool and a fraud. Nothing that Disney does comes close to the depravity of homosexuals buying IVF children. That right there is a dictionary definition of grooming.

Well, some of us ain't part of that 100%. We rightly called out DeSantis as a Nazi for imposing lockdown measures -- including totally ILLEGAL ones -- that were no less draconian than what we saw in Democrat states like New York, Michigan and California.

“Wrong friends . . .”

You say Governor DeSantis has wrong friends.

Is that a show-stopper for you?

If I could show that Donald Trump gave money to finance Hilary Clinton's climb to political power, would you disqualify Trump?

Is DeSantis actually a Nazi, or is that something you just made up?

Excuse me, I Must have missed you calling out Trump for wanting to close down the entire USA, along with all the Governors who closed down their states harder and much longer than DeSantis.

I bow to your foresight.

If you impose a blockade on interstate highways at your state border, I'd say you're a Nazi.

If you shut down businesses and prevent honest, law-abiding citizens from earning an 'effing living, then you're a Nazi.
