Senator Bob Casey is not even pretending to be pro-life anymore.
After campaigning as a pro-life Democrat every year since first being elected to the U.S. Senate in 2006, he has abandoned his position supporting protections for unborn babies.
In a new interview with The Messenger, the Pennsylvania lawmaker rejected the pro-life label and referred to killing unborn babies in abortions as a “right.”
Asked if he is still pro-life, Casey told the news outlet: “I don’t believe that the terminologies we used before Dobbs make much sense anymore. It’s almost the terminology of pre-Dobbs is antiquated.”
The U.S. Supreme Court ruling Dobbs v. Jackson overturned Roe v. Wade in 2022, determining that aborting unborn babies is not a constitutional right. The historic ruling returned the matter to the will of the people, and currently 18 states have pro-life laws that protect babies in the womb.
Casey once claimed to support legal protections for unborn babies – something Roe got in the way of. In 2015, he voted in favor of the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, which would have protected unborn babies from abortion nationwide after 20 weeks of pregnancy.
Now that Roe is gone, however, Casey implied that legal protections for unborn babies are bad because abortion is a “right.”
“It’s what kind of country you’re going to be: Are we going to be a country that bans abortion?” he told The Messenger. “That’s where I think Dobbs, really in so many ways, it was not just the overturning of a 49-year right, but it completely changed the conversation about the way forward, which is to kind of split people into two lanes — you are either going to support banning abortion or not.”
Later, Casey added: “It’s really a basic question: We are either going to be a country that recognizes a right and does not support a ban, or you’re going to go in the direction [of] … an entire political party trying to pass some type of national ban.”
Federal Republicans recently introduced legislation to limit abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy, something polls consistently show public support for.
In contrast, nearly all Democrats in Congress support a pro-abortion bill nicknamed the Abortion Without Limits Up to Birth Act that would erase basically all abortion restrictions nationwide, including parental consent for minors, informed consent and bans on late-term abortions. Most Americans oppose late-term abortions and support laws requiring that parents be involved in their underage daughters’ abortion decisions.
But Casey now stands with Democrats, not the American people, on the issue. Last year, he announced his support for the pro-abortion bill.
Notably, the Casey name has a reputation for being pro-life. The senator’s father, Bob Casey Sr., was a Democratic governor of Pennsylvania and a strong advocate for life, and Casey Jr. campaigned as pro-life during his last re-election campaign in 2018.
Just a few months after the election, however, LifeNews exposed Casey for supporting one of the nation’s largest pro-abortion groups, EMILY’s List. The core mission of EMILY’s List is abortion on demand, and it spends millions of dollars every year supporting pro-abortion politicians’ election campaigns.
According to The Messenger, Casey now votes with the pro-abortion groups Planned Parenthood and NARAL Pro-Choice America about 70 percent of the time.

His muzzling by the DNC to prevent a pro-life speech at the national convention was my Ronaldus Magnus moment of realizing that the Democratic Party had left me.

Oh... I think I got it. He was pro-life but the Dobbs decision has forced him to become pro-abort...
