Apparently part of her “heroic” legacy is being the first gay astronaut, a lesbian with a long time partner kept secret until her death a few years ago.
Any memorials for all the other astronauts who died in the line of duty?

What exactly did she do that was “heroic”?
Using the word for everyone simply renders the word meaningless. So what then becomes of the fireman who goes into a burning building multiple times bringing out children? Or a soldier who gives his life to save others?
I didn’t know she died from pancreatic cancer; I’d always thought she was on the doomed Challenger when it exploded.
If she was not a lesbo, would she have a statue??
Wasn’t this the one that wore diapers to travel from Texas to Florida to see her married boyfriend (and wasn’t murder or attempted murder involved)?
