CHICAGO — Two women were mugged in Lakeview on Tuesday morning by men who traveled in an SUV that had been carjacked from an off-duty police officer just a couple of hours earlier. The cop does not work for the Chicago Police Department.
A separate string of daylight robberies was reported in Lakeview and River North on Monday.
The 51-year-old off-duty cop was in his Jeep Cherokee in the 1700 block of East 87th Street around 4 a.m. on the Fourth of July when three men ordered him to get out of the vehicle at gunpoint, according to a CPD report.

It used to be that we could live on the good side of Chicago. While all the crime was on the bad side of Chicago. This and many other crimes now-a-days, is on “the good side” of Chicago. In fact there is no safe side. You can spend a few million on an apartment and get robbed right out side your doorman’s awning.
And they are doing it on purpose. If the magnificent mile has too many tourists, they organize a few hundred blacks to take the El down and loot the place. Evanston Illinois is ground zero of Antifa. With Jan Schakowski and her husband Robert Creamer as members of the cabal who fund these riots in Chicago and many other cities across America.
Why do law abiding black folks put up with this sort of thing? They are the victims so often.
Perhaps the tribal instinct and “us vs them” is just stronger.
Whatever else may also play into it, they are afraid of criminals. Snitches are not protected by the police, unless it's a federal major mob bust.
Criminal gangs are the de-facto government in "bad neighborhoods", sometimes with the connivance of the local alderman.
That is the most dangerous area of the city. How, can an off duty in that scenario. Not be ready? Or there alone in the first place.
