Missing Massachusetts woman Emma Tetewsky found trapped in mud at state park

A Massachusetts woman who disappeared late last month was found Monday at a state park, where authorities said she had been trapped in a muddy area for at least three days.

Emma Tetewsky, who was reported missing on June 26, was rescued from a swampy area inside Borderland State Park, Easton and Stoughton police said in a joint statement.

Hikers inside the Easton park said they heard a woman screaming for help but were unable to reach her so they called 911 at about 6 p.m. Monday.

Easton police officers who arrived on the scene heard Tetewsky’s desperate calls for help and followed her screams some 50 feet from the shore, the officials said.

Three cops on ATVs waded through thick brush and swamp until they reached Tetewsky, 31, and dislodged her from the mud.

What a way to spend a weekend! That must have been absolutely horrible for her.

However, the article never explains how she ended up in the swamp in the first place.

Quicksand fears as a child were well founded, I guess.

However, the article never explains how she ended up in the swamp in the first place.

Either Bigfoot's cousin, Swamp Ape, dragged her in, or she was an idiot and waded in herself.

One must determine which is the more likely scenario.

She had plenty of time for introspection and pondering the wisdom hiking alone.

Probably screaming from being eaten alive by leaches more than anything else.

When I was a kid, me and a buddy would go down to a remote area of the base I lived on, and there were huge, water filled canals they had been digging down there that we would go into.

My friend’s father was a civilian backhoe operator, and was digging them either for practice or as an attempt at a drainage solution (likely) but I always thought he was just practicing because he was doing it during “off” hours and weekends.

We would try to see how much we could get immersed in the mud, which occasionally would come up to halfway between the bottom of the rib cage and your nipples.

It was really hard to get out of, but stupidly, we kept going in.

Never crossed our minds we could get really stuck or even killed doing it.

Kids.

Anyway, we would trudge back to my house about a quarter to half mile away, completely covered with the gooey mud, and hose off. My mother would look at me in exasperation and question me in a loud, irritated voice about what I had been up to.

We would say we had been swimming in a creek.

I got stuck in mud when I was 10 or 12. It was absolutely horrifying. A friend ran for help and a construction worker at a nearby project came and pulled me out. I was probably trapped for only 15 or 20 minutes but it scared the daylights out of me.

This poor woman must have thought “this is it” many times during her ordeal. I’m surprised she had the remaining strength to cry for help.

She didn't want any 50-year-old white men as a pilot?

ducking and running away

I did a search for more information. Found a piece that said she has mental health chalenges.

Many years ago I read a news story about a guy who got stuck chest deep in the mud. Rescuers arrived but could not extricate him. They finally put him in a harness and attempted to lift him out with a helicopter.

The suction was so strong he was torn in half.

Some people actually pay thousands of dollars to have a mud bath at a spa.

Hikers inside the Easton park said they heard a woman screaming for help but were unable to reach her, . . . . Three cops on ATVs waded through thick brush and swamp until they reached Tetewsky . . . .

How the Hell did she get in there if it was so difficult for everyone else???

I had the same question. I’m beginning to wonder if maybe there were some mind-altering substances involved in her “trip” and she just floated there on thin air.

I received an emergency message on my phone a few days ago about this missing woman she lives one town over.
I have been to that park many times I am thrilled that she was found alive!
