Has the ghost of Marlon Brando risen?
Aren’t Ben & Jerry’s mansions on stolen land? They should give up everything they own?
By the way, has anyone ever take a look at the ingredients on a pint of Ben & Jerry’s? Hippies? I think not for these purveyors of industrial chemicals.
Imagine if you will, that the black death had totally sterilized Europe around 1450, no survivors at all. What would have happened to the native Americans with their paleolithic technological base??
My version of an answer to that: It might have taken 100 - 150 more years, but sooner or later, some sort of a combined fleet of Ming/Mongol ships similar to the ships of Zheng Ho would have gotten to California with horses and squadrons of cavalry using Mongol tactics and those powerful composite bows, and capable of crossing North America West to East in about a month and inside of the first six months, they wouldhave had better maps of the Americas than any native group had.....
Another freeper mentioned how stolen isn’t the correct term. The land was conquered.
My thoughts - almost EVERY square inch on God’s green earth has been conquered at some point. Except for Antarctica I suppose - which was discovered and divided up peacefully.
So far.
Or...free ice cream forever.
For as long as I can remember, Ben & Jerry’s “brand” has been hippie leftism. As such, I’ve long avoided their frozen, sugary concoctions. Conversely, I’d imagine that most of their customers are on board with or indifferent to B and J’s brand of hate-America leftism. So this stunt likely won’t hurt them.
BTTT
Ben and Jerry and others like them are causing major problems. Read this and see if you can figure out this can of worms they are opening:
“We are also proud Jews. It’s part of who we are and how we’ve identified ourselves for our whole lives. As our company began to expand internationally, Israel was one of our first overseas markets. We were then, and remain today, supporters of the State of Israel.”
Ben and Jerry: it’s our land, the area around Mt Rushmore to the Lakotas was theirs, it was stolen from us, they should get it back as we got Israel back.
This is where this will ultimately go.
It will divide both the left and the right as the left will say no to Israel getting and keeping all of Israel and they must return to the 1967 borders (or no further settlements), with the right saying no to that.
The right will say no to land these tribes lost going back to them and yes to land Jewish people’s lost going back to them and kept by them in full.
Then religion comes into play, native tribes will say the land was given by their gods, and on and on, the Torah will be cited.
I want a new timeline...
It’s none of their business.
They are a British company.
So put a sock in it.
We’ve got a new King George now.
Ben & Jerry’s company is owned by Unilever.
I cannot boycott them. I never bought their diabetes-fuel.
But if they are owned by Unilever now, that means I can boycott someone.
Why the Sioux? They “stole” the land from tribes that were there before them.
I’ve been boycotting them for 30 years.
Since when have socialists been against the confiscation and redistribution of private property?
The Kaepernick one is for real.
Hell of a site for a casino.
Give them free ice cream and call it good.
Never was a fan of the hippie ice cream. There are plenty of local farms that make their own. Give me Roundtop any day.
How can land be stolen from people who have no concept of land title? To the Dakota (Sioux) Indians, the land was where the buffalo grazed, and their “happy hunting ground”, not a place to raise subdivisions and industrial sites.
Now, “land use”, i.e., the highest and best purpose for which the land may be used, is another interpretation of the “bundle of rights” that are included in the grant of land title, and so recorded at the government offices where these records are kept. And “the government” is whomever administers the civil control of a given tract of real estate.
That land was “stolen” from the indigenous people fair and square. Possession is nine points of the law, and all.
