Trump on Hillary Clinton: A president under indictment would represent constitutional crisis
The Hill ^ | 07/03/2023 | LAUREN SFORZA

President Trump, who has now been indicted over his handling of classified records, said in 2016 that a president under an indictment would cause a constitutional crisis, statements first noted by a CNN KFile review.

Trump made the comments about then-presidential candidate Hillary Clinton at a rally in Reno, Nev., on Nov. 5, 2016, KFILE noted.

“We could very well have a sitting president under felony indictment and ultimately a criminal trial,” Trump said at the rally. “It would grind government to a halt.”

Trump’s remarks came just days after then-FBI director James Comey announced that the bureau was re-launching an investigation into Clinton’s private email server and her handling of classified information.

Comey’s decision has been heavily criticized by Clinton and other Democrats, who argue it played a huge role in her loss in the 2016 presidential election.

We’re already in a constitutional crisis. Ship has sailed.

We are in a Constitutional Crisis RIGHT NOW, with a POTUS who should have been indicted, should have been impeached, committed treason, and by all rights should have already been hung by a rope (leniency, shot). No amount of Hill spin changes that.

Trump: Joe is Shot

He's right and it is.

Maybe we do need a constitutional crisis, Trump or no.

Well…it is a problem. He admits that.

It’s why they indicted him. Some here will use the Hill for moral guidance and fall into the justice system that allows Dems to be criminals where trump has to be a saint

Others are not so easily seayed

“We could very well have a sitting president under felony indictment and ultimately a criminal trial,” Trump said at the rally. “It would grind government to a halt.”

True statement, and the point is? He was referring to a legitimate event, not a hoax. Now, as far as I know, it would be an impeachment, first, not a criminal trial. That would come after removal from office.

The object of the Biden administration is to stop Trump, constitutional crisis be damned.

Trump on Hillary Clinton: A president under indictment would represent constitutional crisis

Which is exactly what the democrats have been after these last 7 years against Trump. Make him out to be crooked and/or a criminal, even if they have to make things up, and then indict him or impeach him, because, it just would not sit right with the American people.

Democrats underestimate the intelligence of the American people, who can see ritht through their schemes. Hillary did commit crimes, for which she should be in prison, and do have the Bidens.

Trump's only crime, which everybody knows about, was winning the presidency and then doing a fantastic job. Democrats do not want a repeat of Trump's 'crime'.

He will be POTUS under indictment only if the ultimate authority, the people, have re-elected him (for his third term, having already been elected for two, but serving one). The constitutional crisis will be resolved.

The “True Bill of Indictment” handed down on Donald Trump by the grand jury, was based on palpable lies and faulty investigations. Those grand juries involved would indict a ham sandwich and have a stronger case.

The grand jury ASSUMES the evidence presented is verified and a chain of custody is established for the examination of the facts of the case. There is no protection the grand jury has against flat-out but plausible lies.

and that is why I keep stating that we cannot depend on him making it to the general election. I doubt he will be elected, but if by the grace of God he does, he’ll be removed by a corrupt judicial system, the FBI, The CIA or a “foreign” actor with a gun.

Hillary: America should hate Trump because those of us in the political class hate him.

America: That's one reason we love Trump.

lol

And I just posted in another thread, desantis supporter/nevertrumper excuses why desantis isn't doing well...

Talk to me about Polls next Nov. Until then they are meaningless.
desantis can beat biden in the general, but Trump can't

And now

Who are you going to vote for, after Trump is convicted and imprisoned.

And one of the desantis supporters just happens to post how Trump might be taken out in the general......

desantis is now depending on Trump being taken out, so he has a chance to be the republican presidential candidate

It’s the only chance that DeSantis has. His campaign is already in “Hail Mary” territory.

DeSantis will be launching 3 pointers from half court by Thanksgiving.

Yep...

That people have to have an alternative after Trump is convicted and imprisoned seems to be a team desantis talking point, as I have seen this being pushed at different places

Clearly 2024 is political lightyears away from 2016 and way back in the second decade of the 21st century, politically motivated mean-spirited, federal indictments did not exist.

Furthermore, way back in 2016, Hillary Clinton was not a former President of the United States, and today President Trump is the only legitimate president to serve since 2008 and cannot be indicted.

It’s a very ‘thin reed’ to place their campaign hopes on.

As trials get pushed back, their hopes will fade with it.

False equivelancy:

One has actually committed crimes, the other has not.

We’re no longer a republic.

Constitutional is moot.
