That sounds very iffy to me. Not likely.

Such a disgrace that the USA is being used to fund the continued warfare and death and destruction of the Ukrainian people instead of pushing for peace talks.

Right, probably with zero ruskie casualties, zero losses of armor, and zero ammo expended.

Not only that, the ruskie soldiers forfeited their paychecks, and did the entire thing pro-bono....

AND

Je$u$ the propaganda loving A$$holes on free-republic make visiting here very boring.

All those billions spent, and the ruskies walz through Ukraine without problems and on pace with the metronome.

What happened to the three day Russian special operation?

Have they taken Kiev yet? Is zelenkski dead or in exile?

Keep believing the ruskies!

They are your friends.

I’ve always had a soft spot for under-dogs. I do not think
Russia was justified to invade the Ukraine.

The real disgrace is the damage done to the Ukraine to
support Putin’s ego.

I need to own up to a mistake I made. For some reason I read
that 700 and extrapolated 700k from it. That was clearly
wrong, and that would have been next to impossible.

I apologize for the error. 700 is entirely possible. Sorry
about the mistake.

Oops...

Peace talks onoy make sense if both parties are sincere.

Putin took Crimea and the Donetsk people’s Republic and the Luhansk people’s Republic from Ukraine in 2014. The fighting had subsided to a frozen conflict.

But Putin then attacked Ukraine and went for decapitation, attacking Kyiv.

At the same time Putin and his controlled Russian media keep claiming Ukraine is an illegitimate country and should be assimilated into Russia.

You can’t negotiate with that. Any “peace” is just a breather for Russia to rearm and then return when the world’s attention is turned elsewhere.

I’d have to agree that seems to be a pretty safe bet.

This situation does not lend itself to negotiation, but then
Trump supports it.

I don’t like seeing the Ukraine diced up, because it clearly
lets Russia benefit from it’s invasion and the hundreds of
thousands who died.

Seems to me that Gameymeat posts this same thing over and over. As if repetition might make it come true?

Putin broke the START 1 Treaty, the Lisbon Protocol and the Budapest Memorandum when he invaded Donbas in 2014 and annexed Crimea.

How can you negotiate with someone whose word is worthless?

Giving up land for peace to Putin is not going to work.

This is like negotiating with a home-invader who attacked your wife and you in your bedroom, but after you chased him out, is now camping in your kitchen and demands that you cede the kitchen to him.

Ukraine getting diced up would be “ok” if Putin really meant to not go further. But we’ve seen that he means to swallow all of Ukraine - or even at the least all of Ukraine east of the Dnieper. Negotiations can’t work

you can’t - especially as you point out, he broke a treaty in 2014 and then broke the “frozen conflict” in 2022

Treaties broken on both sides. Recently Merkel admitted they (NATO) only agreed to the Minsk II agreements in order to buy time to build Ukraine’s army. IN response to her admission, Putin said “Trust was lost.”
When these litanys against Russia surfaces, it helps to remember NATO broke treaties too. They each want what they want - the Ukraine simply wouldn’t stop killing ethnic Russians living in Eastern Ukraine.

Yeah but it happened after Ukraine disbanded Friendship Treaty with Russia in 2019. The only one treaty which guarantied Ukrainian birder.

I don’t think Putin ever trusted West at all. He knew it and prepared Russia to war. That is why Russian economy is on rise this year.

Agreed. Putin was always clear about NATO's actions which threatened Russian sovereignty and NATO was pretty clear about attempting regime change in Russia. I think Putin was making a point for the benefit of the public- NATO always screams they can't trust him while they betray him and try to remove him in order to install a puppet in Russia.
