US farmer warns ‘China is quietly taking over’ food security

"They're tapping into the American food structure and this country. And we should be looking at that as food security, people," National Black Farmers Association President John Boyd Jr. said on "Cavuto: Coast to Coast" Tuesday, "because they're tapping into American farms and tapping into the hog industry, all of these industries that China is quietly taking over here in the United States."

Farmers have voiced their concerns for more than two years over Chinese-owned companies purchasing large swaths of rural farmland in states like Oklahoma, Minnesota, North Carolina and Virginia.

U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) data from 2021 indicates that China controls an estimated 383,000 acres of U.S. farmland, with their investments reportedly generating $1.9 billion that year.

Chinese-backed companies with big bucks are also outbidding American farmers for new land, according to Boyd Jr.

Yet foreigners can't buy land in China. We have become a nation marked by political corruption and incompetence.

I remember 40 years ago when everyone was worried about the Japanese doing this to us.

I’m not saying we shouldn’t worry about China—we should. But it isn’t a deep strike in our heart, either. And some states are already putting roadblocks into this.

From: https://www.cnn.com/2023/06/19/politics/chinese-land-purchases/index.html

(of course, CNN says it is raciss...)

Florida last month joined a list of at least seven other states – including Virginia, North Dakota, Montana and Arkansas – to pass variations of such bills this session, according to the National Agricultural Law Center (NALC), which is tracking the issue and conducts research on agricultural and food law. Similar measures are percolating in more than two dozen states and there’s a bill in Congress that seeks to federalize the issue, the NALC said.

I am in hopes that the next president has some common sense & will not allow any purchase of U.S. land, particularly by China. In fact, a way needs to be found to rescue any Chinese purchase of U.S. land & get it back into American hands. We can’t purchase their land so why should ours be sold to them? In my opinion, those who have sold U.S. land to China are guilty of treason & should be tried as such.

I can't believe anyone is still comparing China to Japan, and concerns about Japan to concerns about China!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The first Chinese industry to benefit from US technology was pork production - hog confinement facilities, which are mostly precast concrete, were shipped over in jumbo jets in the 1970s until their factories were built. That was to feed poor Chinese, now the chicoms are feeding poor Americans.

Maybe, but who owns Bill Gates? We already know that his main purpose in life is depopulation.

383,000 acres out of 893,400,000 acres, so a rounding error worth of land. But they manage to make 1.9 billion dollars a year on it. That’s pretty impressive.

Don’t worry, House and Senate members of all the farming and agriculture states will do their job to protect America and its framers and ranchers.

As will the governors and state legislatures in all of those states.
