Democratic Strongholds Are Seeing Their Tax Revenue Plummet
Free Beacon ^ | 6/30/23 | Karl Salzmann

Heavily taxed blue states such as New York and California last year had some of the country's most drastic drops in tax revenue. At the same time, Republican states are enjoying the highest revenue increases even as they keep income taxes low.

Under Democratic governor Gavin Newsom, California has turned a $100 billion budget surplus into a $32 billion deficit, Bloomberg reported Friday, forcing the state to trim its "lofty climate change program, delay funding, and increase internal borrowing." In this year alone, the once-Golden State has seen its tax revenue crater by nearly 25 percent as it hemorrhages wealthy residents to lower-taxed states.

New York, which under Democratic governor Kathy Hochul has the highest tax burden in the country, saw a similar revenue drop of almost 20 percent. Both California and New York last year saw their populations shrink by about 294,000 residents, Bloomberg reported.

California and New York aren't the only blue states with tax problems. Illinois, New Jersey, and Hawaii also reported drops, according to Bloomberg, though theirs weren't nearly as drastic.

The pimps and whores in charge of this debacle don’t care. At least, not until the next election. Then the fools who cast the votes will just put in more of the same. The usual suspects.

On purpose. To federalize it.

Both California and New York last year saw their populations shrink by about 294,000 residents, Bloomberg reported.

The 294,000 taxpayers lost have been replaced by many more illegals who pay little or no tax. California has over 2 million illegals and NY close to the same number. Many illegals are paid under the table - therefore there is zero tax benefit for the local, state or federal government. Those who do pay taxes are paying for minimum wage income - which generally incurs no tax liability.

As the old saying goes, "socialism works only until you run out of other peoples money." I have only one thing to say to CA, NY and every other blue state and city - "enjoy the suck!"

That’s because you can’t write off more than $10k to the Federal government anymore. They have to actually pay the taxes they’ve been voting for. And those that don’t want to pay them (because they DIDN’T vote for them) have left the states for greener pastures.

. . . as it hemorrhages wealthy residents to lower-taxed states.

Then these limousine liberals move to states like Florida and Texas and expect the local and state government to wipe their a$$ and pick up the check for their indulgence and amusement which is what lead to the high taxes they don't want to have to pay.

McCarthy bailed them out so they can take your dollars. Even McCarthy’s militarized IRS. There were many fiscally responsible people vying for speaker and trump gave us the same thing he gave us in covid.. blank checks to those who want us in chains or dead.

Wait, I thought they were paying reparations of one million each. Guess the federal government will foot their bills.

That’s part of it. They’re also working under the table which means no income tax collected. No unemployment taxes collected.

"I can't stand when I see this. It should be Democrat, there is nothing democratic about the Democrat party."

Me too. I use demonKKKrat, since almost all of the old "Blue Dog" original Democrats are now gone, or heavily suppressed.

Agreed- soak the citizen till they have no money left for themselves- (The silly thing is, the citizens will likely become even more loyal to their overlords if they do)

5 years ago I would have thought things like exit taxes and property confiscation of emigrants to be pure lunacy. Now? I’d be surprised if California and New York didn’t at least give it a go.

Paradox, irony, and basic economics are subjects Democrats simply cannot fathom. Pity certain States’ citizens(?) keeping electing them.

Surely you don’t believe anything from Wikipedia? They are little more than agitprop.

Wikipedia is very important—we need it to tell us the “official narrative” of the Deep State—since that narrative can change hourly.

The rule of opposites—the opposite of the Deep State narrative on any topic is reasonably close to the truth.
