Justice Sonia Sotomayor blasted the Supreme Court’s 6-3 decision to back a Christian wedding website designer’s choice not to provide services to gay couples, calling the decision “profoundly wrong” in a scathing dissenting argument read from the bench.
“Today, the Court, for the first time in its history, grants a business open to the public a constitutional right to refuse to serve members of a protected class,” Sotomayor wrote.
The associate justice harkened back to the civil rights and women’s rights movements in her dissent, suggesting that in recent years, gender and sexual orientation minority groups have faced “backlash to the movement for liberty and equality.”

Guess she hasn’t read the LAW that states that religious rights are also a protected class and, of course, the constitution.
We get angry when one or two of the majority takes the side of Sotomayor et al but I think that shows a dramatic difference between conservatives and progs. None of them have ever joined our side on an important issue. Yes they really don’t have to hear the case. Whomever from our side joins with them occasionally does so after study and thought and consideration of consequence. I had hoped Kahan might be different but she has shown today she is joined at the hip with her two colleagues in believing ideology uber alles.
You got to give her credit where credit is due …the witch always sticks to her base like booger glue. She never leaves the radical Nazi plantation. Not like our side, we would have had magnificent rulings, but they always falter because they want to appear fair minded to the left. I would like her to go to a no go zone and try to make a Muslim make her a cake or design something for a gay couple. Let’s see how far she gets. It’s only because Christians are the piñata constantly being hit and never hitting back!
Lefties sure are bitter when the SCOTUS decisions don’t go their way.
Whatever happened to not politicizing the court, not criticizing justices directly blah blah blah. I heard that for decades from Liberals when the SCOTUS was legislating from the bench - all in ways that Liberals liked. Now its the opposite....
THANK YOU DONALD TRUMP
....and Lefties sure are bitter about it.
I want the three affirmative action justices to be happy. There is a solution.
Ouch. Did not know that.
I would suggest she resign but that would leave an opening. Replacing one wise latina with another unqualified ‘can’t-i-date’ doesn’t gain us anything. Special treatment is NOT equal treatment.
“Today, the Court, for the first time in its history, grants a business open to the public a constitutional right to refuse to serve members of a protected class,” Sotomayor wrote.
False. Every business had that right from day the Constitution was ratified until the Supreme Court decided to tear it away.
Basically a coven within the court.
Wow. She is stunningly stupid.
“Protected class huh??? The mask really makes a thud when it falls off.”
I had to read that twice, then looked to see if it was the Babylon Bee.
Of course they did.
Probably need some eye bleach after this...
Sotomayer in her own words admits that there are unconstitutional protected classes.
“I wonder why.”
Probably because being in the minority, she has no real power, but she does have the ability to assert privileges like that, which accomplish nothing, but that the rest of the court is forced to allow her. It’s a petty move, that’s all.
Get some smarts O Wise Won. Your White House resident has
made the statement: “This is no normal court”. And you, are
no normal justice. Not even close.
Hmmmm, I remember before Elon Musk purchased Twitter, republicans/conservatives were being banned/suspended/silenced because Twitter was “a privately owned business and can do what it wants”, apparently that only applies to liberal owned businesses.
“… grants a business open to the public a constitutional right to refuse to serve members of a protected class.”
A right slaves serving a protected class didn’t have.
Another affirmative action appointee.
