During a discussion reacting to the Supreme Court’s ruling that affirmative action policies in college admissions violate the Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment, Virginia Lt. Gov. Winsome Sears called out Associate Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson for being a diversity hire.
The comment came during an interview on Fox News’s “The Story,” after host Martha MacCallum read viewers Jackson’s dissent.
“This is the dissent from Justice Jackson, she said, ‘With let them eat cake obliviousness today, the majority pulls the ripcord and announces color blindness for all by legal fiat. But deeming race irrelevant in law does not make it so in life,’ she said. She and Justice Sotomayor were outraged by this decision. Sotomayor said, ‘The opinion today will highlight the court’s own impetus in the face of America who cries for equality resound.’ What would you say to these justices?”
“Well, what you have is the justice who was chosen because she’s black and because she’s a woman,” Sears responded. “You know, that’s what we’re understanding now, what a woman is. And Martha, while we’re playing these stupid games, I’m saying that education and the lack of it in America is risen to a national crisis.

I onow that all too well- I’m wholly unqualified for any nu ber of high skill jobs in the country- but I don’t c9mplain to,the govenrment about it and make them lower the skill requirements of jobs where high skills are needed. I accept that I’m not skilled enough to do those jobs, and am content doing the jobs i was skilled for.
Also, I would,never have wanted to be accepted to a college for the brilliant folks simply to fill a quota- I would have failed the courses and it would have been a waste of money because of it- but the left think that every field should be a “level playing field” (ie unskilled unqualified people should have every opportunity that highly skilled folks have), and our institutions and businesses have suffered terribly beczuse of it.
The intellectually honest folks in the black community recognize this fact, but the dishonest minority groups refuse to accept that fact.

All hiring unqualified people does is severely weaken the mission and cause more work for the actual qualified.
I guess somewhere along the line the nfl and the NBA were exempted form this stupidity.

That’s my husband’s story as a DoD contractor. In one instance, the AA hire to head a division failed miserably. Instead of dealing with the guaranteed sh!t storm if they fired the black chick, they disbanded the entire division.
They had to outsource that work. It cost (tax payers) much more money, but it was worth it considering the PITA factor, and MORE money, of fighting the law suits.

What I usually saw was the unqualified person get ANOTHER promotion just to rectify the situation, because a horizontal transfer would undoubtedly result in the obligatory EEO complaint. ......when that happened you could cut the animosity with a knife.
Yup. Just like the military lowering the physical requirements for recruits so that women and girlie men can pass weakens the military. Whole there are some exceptions to the rule, most women would not be able to rescue a fallen soldier and carry them to safety during battle because they don’t have the strength or endurance to do so like our military once upon a time had. It’s just sickening what affirmative action and the like has done to this nation.
I like Lt. Gov. Winsome Sears a lot. She needs a prominent position in the next President’s Cabinet - VP included.
You folks are missing something. It’s her future. Should she succeed Youngkin or take on the Dr. Suess fella in the senate? Run/lose and she still stays as Lt. Gov. setting herself up for the Governorship with a year to recover from a ‘24 loss. She could win-you never know.
It’s Youngkin I don’t like. He’ll be 3 years into his term and can’t run again. His Town hall was not impressive-too much butt kissing of the questioners. He just may prefer the WH as the senate is beneath too many GOP governors. Fact is there are 2 senate seats coming up in the next 2 cycles that will be tough. Will either one take on the tough fight? I say no. Both will play it safe and we’ll get stuck with a sure loser like Hung Cao. Even in losing the full court press is called for.
