Michigan's House of Representatives has passed a hate speech bill, known as HB 4474, which criminalizes causing someone to feel threatened by words, including the misusing of their pronouns, with the possibility of a hefty fine or even jail time.
The bill introduces hate crime penalties for causing someone to 'feel terrorized, frightened, or threatened,' with 'sexual orientation' and 'gender identity or expression' included as protected classes.
Offenders could face up to five years in prison for such a felony offense or a $10,000 fine.
The bill reads as follows: 'Intimidate' means a willful course of conduct involving repeated or continuing harassment of another individual that would cause a reasonable individual to feel terrorized, frightened, or threatened, and that actually causes the victim to feel terrorized, frightened, or threatened.'
If passed, penalties would be based on how the supposed victim and court 'feel' about a particular matter.

A wise high-level manager once told me, approximatly, never make a rule you know people won’t follow. You have authority based on your position, expertise or age, etc. But people following you or doing what you say is voluntary. Abuse that and you’ll lose all authority and leadership.
While the state has a monopoly on violence and punishment, Michigan has a high number of Muslims who WILL disobey. This would be poking the murder hornet’s nest. And, when the prisons are full of Muslims, what then? The UN and Amnesty International get involved? (Probably not, but you see some of the problems.)
Probably, these laws would only be enforced against white cis men. As someone in California pointed out, the property laws are only enforced against the white middle class. He pointed out the non-citizens near him who were in violation of lots of ordinances and no one bothered them. Also, a huge number of illegals have no license or insurance, and the cops usually did nothing about it. But the white middle class? Oh, yeah, turn the screws on them very hard.
No muslim will be charged under this. It’s going to be like the wedding cake and photographer stuff. Christians and white males only.
