Ron DeSantis border plan unveiled: End to birthright citizenship, US troops to operate in Mexico and promise to finish wall

While visiting the US-Mexico border, Republican presidential hopeful Ron DeSantis released his border security plan which calls for an end of birthright citizenship and for him to be able to send the US military into Mexico if necessary.

“Joe Biden has failed to meet the most basic responsibility of ensuring the territorial integrity of our country,” Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said as his plan was unveiled in Texas.

“Biden’s gross dereliction of duty has left the southern border in shambles.”

The plan, which mirrors many immigration talking points laid out by other Republicans, including GOP rival Donald Trump, also promised to finish the border wall — which no US president has been able to do.

In a plan of action called “No excuses: stop the invasion,” DeSantis laid out what he hopes to accomplish if he were to become president, including ending the legal right of all children born on US soil to become citizens under the 14th Amendment of the Constitution.

In a DeSantis presidency, children of illegal immigrants would not automatically qualify as Americans.

“Dangling the prize of citizenship to the future offspring of illegal immigrants is a major driver of illegal migration,” the plan reads. *** “It is also inconsistent with the original understanding of 14th Amendment, and DeSantis will force the courts and Congress to finally address this failed policy.” *** “If the Mexican government drags its feet, DeSantis reserves the right to operate across the border to secure our territory from Mexican cartel activities,” the document says. ***

Anytime you use the police for a military function or the military for a police function it ends badly.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Nobody with an ounce of sense would contend that stopping the invasion of our country is a police function, and I don’t give a damn if God Herself says it is. But if you wish to disagree have at it!

Why don’t you tell us why he wouldn’t have to deal with the same obstacles? I would really like to know what your reasoning is for that.

I need a detailed, realistic plan that has a hope in hell of working.

It is a military function but if it is a military function it should operate using military action to those who come over illegally.

Troops standing around acting like nannies is ridiculous.

The best way to end this is to cut all freebies to illegals and that will lead many to go back to where they came from.

Only then will I know that these candidates are serious about illegal immigration.

The border crisis is an example of how the Chief Executive in our system of government can be made powerless, and why from time to time there are those who voice a preference for governance by benign dictatorship.

All of us can smell a another UniParty Rino from across the country now.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>.
Well is Trump also a UniParty RINO? Regardless whether he is or not, he may not be able to complete the wall if Congress refuses to fund it. If he can, God bless him! He’s got my vote locked up no matter what happens.

Same for me. Ron DeSantis had better keep those promises.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Or what? DeSantis, like Trump or any other truly conservative President can easily be “gelded” by Congress and the Courts! That, unfortunately, is the congenital weakness of our form of government when the reins of power are in the grasp of our enemies.

I'm not running for president. I'm voting for president. I expect the guy I vote for to have more of a clue about that and about getting a wall built than you seem to.

I don’t really have a problem with this.

Invading Mexico is not something even a half-brained President would do. NO. He’s just be a lying politician to get votes. That’s what he is.

In other words, he’s going to use Trump’s border policy.

That's what I thought. Trump said this last week. Talk is cheap though. We need action and we need every single illegal out of this country today.

No, he is going to get legislation to do things, use the military, etc.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Naive my friend. DeSantis would be confronted with exactly the same legislative support (and roadblocks) that Trump would be facing. Where was DeSantis’ support while Trump was doing everything possible to have the building of the wall completed while in office?

A few tomahawk cruise missiles landing in the cartel leader’s compounds would send a message. Blow up their cars and yachts. Arrest their family and kids. Make the stress not worth the business.

Offer dead or alive bounty’s on gang members

Those suggestions may sound crazy to some, but sooner rather than later our country’s fate may depend on doing just what you’re suggesting. Reason? Look who’s moving right NOW into Cuba!

And you have no idea whether the guy you’re voting for will get the wall built. Talk is cheap. Trump is the guy who initiated the building of the wall against tremendous opposition, and with zero help from Meathead who thus far has failed to get majority support from Republicans even in Florida. And he’s your guy? As I previously said, you’re naive.

A "failed policy", in this case anchor baby citizenship, that is "inconsistent with the original understanding of the 14th Amendment", doesn't require an act of Congress to change. Just issue the EO and respond when the parents of these babies take you to court.

OK, not trying to be mean to you or anything, but do you have reading comprehension issues? My post questioned why DeSantis didn't back up his promises with details. I didn't mention Trump at all - he's your obsession, not mine.

I get it, you prefer Trump's BS over DeSantis' BS. I don't prefer BS. I prefer a real, complete border wall. I'd like one of these guys to give me real details on how he'd get it done.
