Ron DeSantis border plan unveiled: End to birthright citizenship, US troops to operate in Mexico and promise to finish wall

While visiting the US-Mexico border, Republican presidential hopeful Ron DeSantis released his border security plan which calls for an end of birthright citizenship and for him to be able to send the US military into Mexico if necessary.

“Joe Biden has failed to meet the most basic responsibility of ensuring the territorial integrity of our country,” Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said as his plan was unveiled in Texas.

“Biden’s gross dereliction of duty has left the southern border in shambles.”

The plan, which mirrors many immigration talking points laid out by other Republicans, including GOP rival Donald Trump, also promised to finish the border wall — which no US president has been able to do.

In a plan of action called “No excuses: stop the invasion,” DeSantis laid out what he hopes to accomplish if he were to become president, including ending the legal right of all children born on US soil to become citizens under the 14th Amendment of the Constitution.

In a DeSantis presidency, children of illegal immigrants would not automatically qualify as Americans.

“Dangling the prize of citizenship to the future offspring of illegal immigrants is a major driver of illegal migration,” the plan reads. *** “It is also inconsistent with the original understanding of 14th Amendment, and DeSantis will force the courts and Congress to finally address this failed policy.” *** “If the Mexican government drags its feet, DeSantis reserves the right to operate across the border to secure our territory from Mexican cartel activities,” the document says. ***

Using the military to protect our border is a bold and necessary step to protect our sovereignty.

In other words, he’s going to use Trump’s border policy.

Anytime you use the police for a military function or the military for a police function it ends badly.

Every time.

It doesn’t matter whose policy it is as long as it’s the right policy to fix the border.

So how many Republican and Democrat House and Senate members does the Ronaldus DeSanctimoneus have that will create this legislation and than vote to Pass it

My goodness, the level of B.S. provided for the little people is indeed fabulous

So how will DeSantis do it? What's the plan for funding and getting construction done for a comprehensive border wall? Does he have a legislative plan to get the wall built, or just a series of Executive Orders that federal courts will block endlessly and that the next president can reverse? How will he prevent a subsequent Democrat president from letting the wall rot or even tearing it down? I'm tired of promises - from Trump, from DeSantis, from everyone - about a border wall. I need a detailed, realistic plan that has a hope in hell of working.

Is anyone offering a plan to locate and remove the 20 million illegal aliens in our nation?

How do US troops operate in Mexico? I know Mexican troops can’t just operate in the US.

Other than that it is the same as Trump. Standing troops on the border with no power to stop border crossers is useless.

I also want to hear that all illegals in the country will be rounded up and shipped back to their home country. Only then will I know that these candidates are serious about illegal immigration.

yayayayaay....and even if DeSantis SOMEHOW becomes POTUS...he will have a Democrat House....or a Democrat Senate...or a budget issue ...all of which will mysteriously somehow keep the border status quo.

All of us can smell a another UniParty Rino from across the country now.

Until a federal judge tells him he can’t. We all saw this movie, who really thinks the lefties in congress and federal judiciary are going to give Ron any less grief than they gave Trump? The budgetary issues alone - walls cost money and Trump pulled every string he could to try to re-allocate funds but was stymied at every turn. DeSantis may say the words but he’s got no more ability to write checks without congressional appropriation than Trump did.

I will say that I admire his coming right out and endorsing Trumps border enforcement plans however. And it’s just talk when Trump says he’s going to build the wall too, unless and until he shows us how it’s going to actually get paid for and completed. And not just piecemeal patches, but the whole damn thing!

Sounds like he’ll make a great VP for Trump, with those policies. Perhaps reality is starting to set-in for him.

The US military should be used to annihilate the drug cartels and those in the Mexican police and government who support them. If necessary, we should make the US southern border one with Guatemala-Belize-United States border.

Exactly. But his will be far more effective, don't you know? Promises from an overstuffed meatball.

No to VP. It’s beneath him. Make it Rand the VP with a promise to quit once his policies are in place and acted on. For instance deport everyone, or at least a big number. Eliminate a few departments. 100% school choice. Once it’s in place Trump can sail into the sunset or run the UN as the world’s emperor. He’s respected.
