Nolte: Crime Surges in Left-Wing Fairfax County, Cops Get Beanbag Shotguns
Breitbart ^ | 06/26/2023 | John Nolte

Fairfax County, Virginia, an elite, left-wing enclave right outside Washington, DC, is dealing with a crime surge, and now police officers will be shooting beanbags instead of shotgun shells.

According to Wikipedia, Fairfax County “has the third-highest median household income of any county-level local jurisdiction in the U.S.” and went nearly 70 percent for His Fraudulency Joe Biden in 2020. In other words, this is a county run by Democrats without serious opposition from Republicans.

The result? Between 2021 and 2022, crimes against persons increased by ten percent, and crimes against property jumped by 19 percent.

” The PD took 800 shotguns out of its circulation and put 630 beanbag shotguns into use.”

Forgive my ignorance, but how does a ‘bean-bag shotgun’ differ from a real one? Isn’t just the choice of ammo?

That’s not how our legislators legislate. It’s a bipartisan mental condition.

There are 1 oz lead-shot-filled bean bags, as well.

They change the color of the furniture, probably for reasons of liability, lest a cop grab the wrong one. Otherwise, samey-same.

One thought behind this is that the shotguns were rarely used and had a huge liability risk because of the shot spread pattern. They’re keeping their ARs, though.

So 170 FEWER shotguns and less lethal. Guess how the bad guys will respond? As the article says, "What are you gonna do, pig? Give me a welt?"

That is a fundamental problem with "less lethal" approaches: the criminal is more willing to risk getting shot with a beanbag than with a real round.

Fairfax County was once a nice place. I went to high school there when my dad was stationed at the Pentagon and then the Washington Navy Yard.

It was conservative and family-oriented back then.

I probably wouldn’t recognize it now. Liberals destroy everything they touch.

Incapacity ability probably depends on hitting a sensitive area.

“Back then, in 1970, one in 100 Virginia residents were born in a foreign country. Now it’s one in 10, and they aren’t all Mexicans. They come from all over the world. Ukrainians, Chinese, Middle Easterners, Africans, Europeans etc. All getting their mouth firmly clamped on the US government nipple.”

We lived in a culdesac on the edge of Fairfax county for most of the 1960’s. In our 12 home section, everyone was American born and so were their spouses.

We moved, and I visited for a couple of days in 1971. 5 homes in our section had at least one foreign born person and or more. In 3 more years only 2 original American couples were still there and one divorcee. She still lives there and jokes about being the only American there.

Fairfax is not a “left-wing enclave.” It used to be the conservative county of the DC area, until the Patriot Act and the Iraq war turned the DC military establishment hard left. It still has the most conservatives in the DC area, although the fanatical hatred of the Left is more unbounded in the DC area than even the heroin-needle strewn, Moloch-worshipping hellhole of San Francisco.

The originals were “technically” beanbags: a folded fabric bag containing birdshot.

“huge liability risk because of the shot spread pattern”

Is that true? Wide spread, but low penetrating power, right? I understand that pellets are not going to go through the house into the next door house.

A buddy of mine was using a rifle during some Antifa riots. It fired a bullet made of compressed cayenne pepper tipped by a small lead pellet. The pellet would break the skin and the pepper would burn.

It was pretty accurate and he had fun standing in the shadows and just picking off idiots. One kept coming back and getting hit over and over. He never knew where it came from.

Most took the hint and left.
