And just like that rentals are converted to condos when people move out.

would this include just not renewing a lease?
You’d have to keep a tenant forever?

Just stop doing leases and instead do month-to-month rentals. Or sell your property and get out of California while you still can.

Landlord response … increase rents. Government should be protecting property rights, no degrading them. This is a move towards state controlled property. You know the name for that.

Just to give perspective on property rights and how little the so-called right cares about them: when was the last time, if ever, have you heard a Republican politician speak about eliminating property taxes so citizens can actually own property? The current situation is that you rent from government. Try missing a few rent payments (property tax payments) and see what happens.

Not as far as Deep State is concerned.

Deep State hates competition.

This helps kill it off.

Welcome to Mexico.

Los Campesinos plan to take your property, by whatever means.

The idiots of California let these parasites in because they wanted to screw American workers and get cheap labor.

How cheap will it be when you end up with three familias in your townhouse for the foreseeable future?

Tenant’s union?

Well, this should certainly increase the amount of “affordable housing” in San Diego!

I agree. BS. If I was a Landlord there, everything I rented or leased would instantly become month to month. Screw big gov.

Investers, if you are invested in rental income property in San Diego, sell it and get out, and if you are not in that situation then don’t buy rental units in San Diego.

In the not distant future a majority of rental housing will be owned by multinational corporations and holding companies.

Everything happening now in the rental and housing markets is in accordance with that plan. Any and all means being used are intended to alleviate individual landlords of the “burden” of owning rental properties.

The brilliant part of the plan is revising the definition of private property from something beneficial to something onerous.

1. Create a problem or crisis.

2. Direct or manipulate the reaction to the problem/crisis.

3. Offer solution. Reap the benefits.

And on it goes...

It is BS, for many reasons.
My primary response to any ‘giving of Rights’ notice is that we all have the same Rights - they are innate to Humans. We are born with them.
They are restricted by others, some, very few, justly. Most, unjustly for political reasons. Power. Wealth.
Also, this law tampers w/ the market. Unjustly. And Market Forces will strike back.
