The case for DeSantis over Trump
The Washington Times ^ | June 24, 2023 | Michael McKenna

Posted on 06/24/2023 6:29:35 PM PDT by TBP

the Trump campaign needs to be aware of an emerging thread of data that suggests that Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis may do better in the general election.

New survey results from Public Opinion Strategies build on previous results and are starting to frame a coherent story about how the general election might look with different Republican candidates.

The new survey results indicate that Mr. DeSantis would do better than Mr. Trump in the general election in specific battleground states. For example, in Georgia, Mr. DeSantis leads President Biden by 3 percentage points in a general election matchup.

In the same matchup, Mr. Trump loses Georgia to Mr. Biden by 3 points.

In Pennsylvania, Mr. DeSantis runs 2 points better than Mr. Biden while Mr. Trump runs 4 points behind Mr. Biden.

Back in April, Mr. Trump trailed Mr. Biden in Pennsylvania by the same 4 percentage points. Mr. DeSantis led Mr. Biden in Pennsylvania by 3 points.

In Arizona, the current spread between the candidates appears greater. Mr. DeSantis runs 6 points better than Mr. Biden while Mr. Trump runs 3 points behind the president. That is also a greater margin than was evident in polling done in April.

Those results indicated that Mr. DeSantis would defeat Mr. Biden nationally by 3 percentage points while Mr. Trump would lose nationally by 3 percentage points — the same margin by which he lost in 2020.

I’ve already addressed that. You’re getting tiresome.

It is only tiresome because you make excuses for Trump over and over while dismissing valid, verified FACTS.

Joe Biden supports the Second Amendment also.....his words, so he is just like Trump in your mind.

I’ve addressed your points and yet you want to go around in circles repeating the same points you’ve already made and me refuting them. No thanks. It’s been fun, but no thanks.
Wheb you have something new to say, let me know.

You refuted nothing.

All you did was say things were not likely to happen, but you never refuted that Trump took those positions as anti-assault weapons and pro-abortion.

Trump is doing exactly what he should be. He has those legal fees because he is standing up & taking the heat for Americans. Some posters try so hard to hate on Trump that they lose sight of the realities.

DeSantis should be honest with himself and with America. He is bought, sold and scripted. He could no more be effective as a MAGA President than he could walk on water.
His mixed success in Florida, while purposely splashy, does not translate to achievements against his backers, the Globalist RINO faction.

Backing someone supported by the worst in the RINO stable, the business men & their lobbies who invented and scheme for a world run to enhance their earnings & power by nullifying the Constitutional rights and opportunities for the people of America is like shooting yourself in the eye to see better.

Asinine. Why do you dissemble and then repeat it like a greek chorus?
Trump has these bills because he fights for Americans and the evil forces trying to destroy America hate him.
If the people of America do not care enough to help with legal bills and show their support for his efforts not only are they base fools they are destined to wear the yoke of the elite and our founding principles will be lost. No more opportunity, no more individual liberty or equal justice. Just oppression and grinding desperation.

Trump wants to legislate the permissible national upper limit.
He has stated that the practices in NJ etc where the baby is born & the doctor & mother decide if it should live are anathema. Trump is talking about forging a limit above which no state can legalize abortions. The lower limit is for states to decide.

To any sane poster your points have been refuted ad infinitum. You reason for a single point to the furthest position on a continuum and bray that they are the same thing. It is akin to saying that since the morning after pill can lead to a pregnancy failure anyone who does not condemn the morning after pill is pro-abortion.

You creepy Trump cultists are soooo funny!

Jeb Bush stands at DeSantis' swearing in and you call him a Deep State RINO linked to the Bushes.

But Trump tells Feinstein to add an assault weapons ban to legislation making its way through Congress and calls a 6-week abortion limit as "harsh" and you creepy Trump cultists are like: "Nothing to see here"

You can support your pro-abortion, anti-gun candidate. Just NEVER call yourself a conservative again.

You are out of your league. Play on.
I am proud to be a conservative since my first election in 1970.
You want to champion Jeb????? LOLOLOLO. “Illegal immigration is an act of love Jeb”? You confuse a total no abortion stance as a inviolate requirement for being a conservative. Horse pucky. Social conservative ≠ conservative.

Trump has been stanch 2nd amendment supporter. Your talking point is just that a taken out of context talking point. Trump came into a meeting & said throw everything on the table for discussion. It’s a negotiating tactic to get everyone talking.

He also said at the gathering to discuss school safety. “It doesn’t make sense that I have to wait until I’m 21 to get a handgun but I can get this weapon at 18,” he added, referring to assault rifles.

He’s right it doesn’t make sense it should be the same age. Trump wanted discussions on domestic abuse and weapons. Discussion is a good thing, airing of the issues and a decision based on 2nd amendment rights and what situations should abridge them. There certainly are those situations, being in prison is one example.

PS It should be noted that you refute none of my points. You simply use personal attacks and new talking point to paper over your inability to respond cogently.
Talk about creepy....

I refuted your characterization of Trump as pro-abortion. Trump has spoken out often against late-term and “post-term” abortions and more recently has proposed a federal ban on such abortions. By definition, that makes him anti-abortion.

I also explained to you Trump’s comments to Feinstein. He told her to put some language into a bill that he knew would never reach his desk. That proves nothing.

Trump might be against late-term abortion, but he is also against banning abortion. That makes him pro-abortion.

Asking the #1 gun grabber in the US Senate to put an assault weapons ban into legislation means he was willing to sign it. You need to read more about what was going on at the time. Trump was willing to sign the bill.

Just because YOU claim it would never reach his desk does not disprove his intention to ban assault weapons, which he could do in his next term by working with the Democrats.

Trump is clearly NOT pro abort and has the best record of any politician in coming against the evils of the abortion lobby. He is also the only Pres to attend the march for life. His explanation of how he came to be pro life is an excellent story.

To characterize his bump stock mistake as anti 2nd amendment or him as a gun grabber is even a worse slander.

You should be ashamed of what you're doing, but it's doubtful you have the capacity to see that.

I go by Trump's words and actions.

Trump did ask Feinstein to add an assault weapons ban to a school safety bill circulating in congress. That is anti-gun.

Trump did say a 6-week abortion limit is "too harsh" and that he wanted to negotiate a nationwide abortion limit that everyone can agree with. That is pro-abortion.

So, you can sit in your land of denial and ignore the FACTS, but do not ever call yourself a conservative.

“Trump did say a 6-week abortion limit is ‘too harsh”

You are a bold-face liar. Trump said that, “SOME SAY a 6-week anyone limit is to harsh.” HE DIDN’T SAY THAT HE HIMSELF BELIEVED THAT. But liberals such as yourself cherry pick words and phrases to suit a narrative to disparage PDJT.

Trump loves to use that phrase (some say) to give him deniability. When you add to the FACT that Trump wants to negotiate a federal abortion limit that everyone can agree with means he is pro-abortion and not in favor of eliminating it.

You are either weak-minded or blinded by the cult of personality

What a pathetic post.

Good luck supporting a fake MAGA candidate, one who is bankrolled by the worst parts of the phony conservative GOP "elite".
