Warnings over the safety of OceanGate's Titan submersible were repeatedly dismissed by the CEO of the company, email exchanges with a leading deep sea exploration specialist show.
In messages seen by the BBC, Rob McCallum told OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush that he was potentially putting his clients at risk and urged him to stop using the sub until it had been classified by an independent body.
Mr Rush responded that he was "tired of industry players who try to use a safety argument to stop innovation".

I am wondering when the criminal charges are going to be filed. Reckless endangerment should be on the table.
Believing a thing is so does not make it so.
He sure showed them.
We’ll wait for OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush to make a comment
Arrogant, narcissistic SOB who richly deserved his Darwin Award with Woke leaf Cluster.
I wonder, is there ANYTHING being used in a similar or parallel activity by industry etc, that resembles what he built here from 5 inches of wound glued carbon fiber and titanium endcaps? That they could refer to for comparison that this technology HAD been tried and proven before and was currently in use at such depths? Or is this totally new design based on onlt computer modelling and very limited prior actual diving?
Rush was Ivy League; he knows better than you and you know nothing in his estimation and neither do 50 year old Navy vets who actually served on submarines. Or at least he knew better than you.
Pride goeth before a fall.
and so stockton Rush used the excuse of innovation to stop safety. I feel sorry for the 19-year-old on board who was pressured into it by his father. The others knew full well what they were doing. At least they all went quickly.
What was "innovative" about this tin can?
Any coffin dance memes out there yet?
I trust Pfizer and Fauci more than the truth of this story.
Apparently McCallum didn’t get the memo: OceanGate was using the Titan vessel under an FDA Emergency Use Authorization.
That is an important point.
I agree. the son was the only victim
I sure would hate to be sued by a couple of billionaire families. They will have resources to pound them into the ground.
He’s under a lot of pressure not to speak.....................
Dying in a poorly designed sub is not new. See the ‘Hunley’................

he paid for his arrogance with his life and the lives of his passengers.
The guy is dead and so is Oceangate.
