Scientists on Twitter head for the exit
MSN----- Axios ^ | Tina Reed

In response, Hotez, part of a Nobel Prize-nominated team that created an affordable, patent-free COVID vaccine for use in poorer countries, retweeted a Vice article with the headline "Spotify Has Stopped Even Sort of Trying to Stem Joe Rogan's Vaccine Misinformation."

The show spread "nonsense," Hotez tweeted. That prompted a challenge from Rogan to Hotez: "Peter, if you claim what RFKjr is saying is 'misinformation' I am offering you $100,000.00 to the charity of your choice if you're willing to debate him on my show with no time limit."

What happened next: Rogan's challenge sparked an internet pile-on against Hotez, accusing him of being a "pharma shill," as well as a back-and-forth between some of Twitter's most influential, including Musk and billionaire investor Mark Cuban.

"He's afraid of public debate because he knows he's wrong," Musk tweeted about Hotez.

"Trying to bully Dr Hotez is ridiculous," Cuban tweeted. Hotez said he's willing to go on Rogan's show — something he's done before — but said a debate with RFK Jr. wouldn't be productive. Kennedy's team did not respond to a request for comment. What they're saying: Twitter is "no longer a tool that's accelerating science. On the contrary," said Michael Mina, chief science officer eMed and pediatric immunologist who regularly used Twitter during the pandemic to talk about COVID. He still uses Twitter, but sparingly, and expects he'll leave completely within the next six months, he said.

"It allowed me to effectively and efficiently sift through the noise of this massive explosion of new publishers and journals and papers that were published," Mina told Axios. "That has gone away. It's now another big noisy mess," he said, adding he no longer gets pointed to relevant experts while those with the most polarizing content get promoted and discourse is drowned out.

Who ever said that Twitter is a platform for the discussion of science matters?

Their echo chamber on Twitter is no more so they are out of there.

My response to them is the same as the response we were given after Jan 6 when Trump supporters were kicked off Twitter en masse. "You can always go create your own platform."

Only difference is they are leaving voluntarily while we were booted off (to their cheers).

“Scientists” are not scientists.

Scientists on Twitter head for the exit

So "scientists" boils down to "scientist" - one guy who's unwilling to engage in any debate to defend his positions and wants to shut down discussions on it. That's not how science works. He barely qualifies as a single scientist - he certainly doesn't count as more than one.

A real scientist would welcome debate on any topic.

Peter Hotez is too skeert to debate RFK, Jr.

I wonder why?

He was anti-vax at first, then suddenly changed directions?

I wonder how much he was paid?

Or maybe a dead girl or live boy was involved in the blackmail?

“What they’re saying: Twitter is “no longer a tool that’s accelerating science.”

It’s not science if it relies on strict censorship of other views and sticking “misinformation” labels on any finding that contradict or question its own.

Musk is setting up Twitter to stream video content and will pull providers off of Youtube.

Yes, and it would be nutty to bet against Musk.

"...Hotez, part of a Nobel Prize-nominated team that created an affordable, patent-free COVID vaccine for use in poorer countries..."

They say that like it is a good thing...

Of course, they don't mention that, in the view of the Menegle-like "scientists" on that "Nobel Prize-nominated team", this "vaccine" should have really been used solely on the test animals in the poorer countries to verify it really did kill people in the quantaties they desired, rather than going full bore in the countries they see as "the Masters".

But there was too much money at stake, and they just went immediately for the golden ring.

If Hotez is a scientist engaged in the pursuit of “the hypothesis”, then he should be delighted to engage a politician in debate regarding a subject he has researched and dissected.
Politicians serve the narrative and argue talking points.
A true scientist would eviscerate RKFj.

When was Twitter ever NOT a "big noisy mess"? Actually, when was it ever NOT a big sewer?
