The U.S. Coast Guard Training Center (TRACEN) in Yorktown, Virginia is one of eight major Coast Guard training facilities in the United States.  There are only two similar facilities in the United States of America, one of them is in Cape May and the other one is in Petaluma. They are often referred to as the US Coast Guard A schools.

Training at TRACEN Yorktown is extensive. The training is designed to instill an understanding of technical and leadership skills in order to perform duties in a leadership role as a Petty Officer. The duration of "A" School training is typically 10 to 19 weeks depending on the course.

Permanently assigned personnel include active duty, reserve, and civilian instructional, curriculum design and support staff. Students include Coast Guard active duty, reservists, and auxiliarists. Additionally, TRACEN Yorktown provides training to other U.S. military services and agencies, and foreign military and coast guard personnel.

I imagine you probably wish you were back on the coast where it isn’t quite so hot. LOL

Good evening, lauren, and thanks for today's Road Trip: US Coast Guard Training Center Yorktown, Virginia.

It took me three tries to get the ping code right. I think I had a gremlin, or maybe it was operator trouble.

THAT’S an understatement! LOL I feel for y’all down there, dealing with the heat that’s hammering the state.
I hope you get to back this Fall too. That whole coastal area is so nice. I’m still homesick for it after 25 years since I was last there.

Hi radu!

We've really cooled off the past few days, back on with the sweat pants!

Son took me out to lunch to Red Lobster yesterday and hung out for awhile and of course I visited with the pups.

Any museum time this weekend?

“It’s definitely a tad warm here, LOL!”

What? I live in the area, it has been pretty temperate this spring so far. I haven’t had my air conditioner on yet! The humidity has even been tolerable.

Hi, lauren...*HUGS*...has all the bad weather finally passed you by? No tornadoes?

It is just plain HOT here. Fans running as the inside temps push above 75.

They are teasing about rain coming. I will believe it only when I see it really RAIN! If it doesn’t rain tonight or tomorrow, I will have to water the lawns.
