BTW, the pistol story is good. Somebody “borrowed” my dad’s 1911 from WWII and never returned it.

Howdy, Kathy.

I hope you’ve been able to find a few minutes to enjoy that beautiful day up there on your deck. Nicest day I’ve seen there in a while.

June 19

Live in Freedom

Bible in a Year:

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free.

Galatians 5:1 In Texas, where I grew up, there were festive parades and picnics in Black communities every June 19. It wasn’t until I was a teenager that I learned the heartbreaking significance of Juneteenth (a word combining “June” and “nineteenth”) celebrations. Juneteenth commemorates the day in 1865 when enslaved people in Texas learned that President Abraham Lincoln had signed the Emancipation Proclamation giving them their freedom—two-and-a-half years earlier. Enslaved people in Texas kept living in slavery because they didn’t know they’d been freed.

It’s possible to be free and yet live as slaves. In Galatians, Paul wrote about another kind of slavery: living life under the crushing demands of religious rules. In this pivotal verse, Paul encouraged his readers that “it is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery” (Galatians 5:1). Believers in Jesus had been set free from external regulations, including what to eat and who to befriend. Many, however, still lived as if they were enslaved.

Unfortunately, we can do the same thing today. But the reality is that Jesus set us free from living in fear of man-made religious standards the moment we trusted in Him. Freedom has been proclaimed. Let’s live it out in His power.

Reflect & Pray

How have you been trapped by religious rules? How have you experienced freedom in Christ?

Jesus, thank You for setting me free from the burden of oppressive rules.

Learn more about finding your God-given calling.

Good evening, ML...((HUGS))...any respite from the rain?

If Tippy doesn’t like a rain coat, how does she handle being dried off? Or does she have to wait on the porch?

Howdy, luvie.

Did your hubby water at least part of the yard today so the kitties would have somewhere to cool off a little? Mighty darn hot there today. :-(

Hey there, radu!

No, he had no extra time, but they “melted” onto the sidewalk in the shade of the trees. We’re all melting. It started off kind of cool but humid, and then went crazy in the late afternoon. I did check their water, though, and it remained cool..close to cold...during all the heat.

Weatherbug is predicting the temp to be 109 on Tuesday. Just the thought of that makes me want to cry. LOL! It’s still 95 degrees out there. With any luck, it’ll be decent at least in the early morning so the kitties can have some relief.

Good evening, radu...IT’S HOT here. Not your kind of hot , but pushing 80. Had to drag out the fans after I stopped blaming the NEW thermostat, and realized that it’s HOT outside, and now it’s hot inside.

Put up a couple screens so I can open a couple more windows. The mosquitoes ae out in force!

Hope your awful smoke is finally dispersing and you can breathe again.

UGH! That makes me sweat just to read it. With those temps, the last thing you need is ANY humidity.
Poor kitties were probably hoping for a little more grass watering today to help them cool off.

Our forecast changed drastically this weekend. Initially they’d said we’d have high 80s and little rain all week, but now it’ll be low 80s with high rain chances every day.
Unless they change it again. LOL

Hot and muggy today but pretty windy so it wasn’t unbearable. This front is pushing out some of the smoke and that’s a huge plus.
