Ann Counter: The Trump Indictment
AnnCoulter.com ^ | June 14, 2023 | Ann Coulter

Last week’s indictment of Donald Trump is the latest example of why liberals really should have read my book, “Resistance Is Futile.” Or Aesop’s fable “The Boy Who Cried Wolf.” Either one.

After years of making insane accusations against Trump, from Russian collusion to indicting him for misdemeanor record-keeping errors in his blackmail payments to a porn star, liberals finally have him dead to rights committing serious felonies. And no one believes them.

It’s your own fault, liberals.

Much to my surprise, the documents Trump had spirited away to Mar-a-Lago were not cheesy souvenirs appealing to his juvenile sensibility, like Shaquille O’Neal’s shoe or a picture with Kim Kardashian.

No, the documents he’d stuffed in Mar-a-Lago’s ballroom, bathroom and shower (among other highly secure locations) included information about our nuclear weapons programs, the defense capabilities of the U.S. and other countries, potential vulnerabilities of the United States and its allies to military attack, and plans for possible retaliation.

As Trump’s Attorney General Bill Barr said in an interview with “Fox News Sunday,” these were “among the most sensitive secrets the country has.”...

In another reminder that Trump defenders need to wait a beat before repeating his claims like trained seals, the government has Trump on audiotape boasting about how incredibly “secret” and “highly confidential” the documents are — as he showed them off to people at his Bedminster Club. “As president I could have declassified it,” he told the non-security-cleared person, “Now I can’t, you know, but this is still a secret.”

How many Republicans have sworn up and down that Trump had declassified all the papers he removed from the White House? Now he’s on tape admitting that that was a lie.

She didn’t mention that, she mentioned the subpoena.

She didn’t mention that, she mentioned the subpoena.

Unless I misunderstand your meaning of "that", she said:

No, the documents he’d stuffed in Mar-a-Lago’s ballroom, bathroom and shower (among other highly secure locations) included information about our nuclear weapons programs, the defense capabilities of the U.S. and other countries, potential vulnerabilities of the United States and its allies to military attack, and plans for possible retaliation.
She did not said, "The subpoena claims that he...", she said he did it; and she is in no position either to know that he did it, or to know what was actually in the boxes as claimed.

That was my point in linking the other article, which is really worth considering in detail.

"Ann snipes about the boxes of documents in the bathroom"

Unless she's psychic, which I'm sure she isn't, there is nothing to see that proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that what is in those boxes are documents. I see one marked Mac Bedroom, or what could be Master Bedroom. Anything could be in those boxes, but in Ann's distorted mind, she sees Russia, Russia, Russia.

Drama queen?

Look, classified stuff is important. It sure was to you all when Clinton was involved.

Someone besides the president has to know about this wave of the hand. Otherwise, would it be fair for all us underlings to get in trouble for violating classified handling when it was actually declassified, but no one knew because only the president himself thought about it? If he didn’t declare it openly to someone so that it could be documented and disseminated for all to know about this declassification, then how can that be valid? How is anyone to know it IS declassified if the president doesn’t MAKE it known?

You all sure treat classified cavalierly.

In normal government business, security of classified is taken very seriously.

You learn you don’t make inapproriate jokes about it or any flippant sarcastic remarks.

Seems someone needs to learn that.

See, that's where you are wrong. Anything Trump took with him is by definition declassified. He, and he alone, is the arbiter of what is classified and what is not. I'm not the least concerned Trump took national secrets. I trust Trump to know what should be declassified, that was what he was elected to do after all. And because I trust him, I'm wanting to vote for him again.

Since when has an indictment been based on flippant, sarcastic remarks? I always thought they were based on hard evidence.........

But then again, this indictment isn't really based on settled law is it?

If president just takes stuff or thinks “this is declassified” - HOW IS ANYONE ELSE TO KNOW? It *HAS* to be documented so this fact can then be disseminated through the security bureaus so that everyone knows very soon.

Otherwise you can have a double standard of Pres is OK to have this “Declassified” stuff, but Joe Schmoe at the same time was caught with it outside his secure area at the same time, but it was still “classified” as far as his supervisors know.

And it’s not a matter of “trust”. Having stuff out of secure areas makes it vulnerable to spies, etc. not to mention careless people.

Non-sequitur.

The point is, if you make flippant remarks regarding secure materials, you will get scrutiny. Whether you get fired, suspended, or indicted isn’t the point here.

I’m not talking about his indictment. Just his apparent remarks.

You obviously lack the basic intelegence to understand what I clearly explained to you. I’ll not waste my time trying to explain it again.

The nerve of you. I have classified experience as an engineer.

Where in any rules does it say the Pres doesn’t have to reveal he is classifying or declassifying something?

If there is no such rule, I apologize. But it opens a huge gaping question, no?

There cannot be a carte blanch ability to just take things, and they declassify, without telling someone.

That is a gaping hole if it hasn’t been covered.

Take your fake outrage and shove it. The Presidential Records Act has been interpreted in the courts to say that anything a president takes with him are his records and therefor declassified.

I couldn’t put it better myself. We don’t need illegals to turn America into a third world country when a disturbing number of native-born Americans think the President is above the law. The Founding Fathers never meant to create a special political class set above the working people. In fact they intended the exact opposite. And of course it goes without saying that if Trump or any other Republican president can declassify documents with a thought, then so can Biden or any other Rat president. Now there’s the stuff of nightmares.
