On Friday, MSNBC acted "concerned" over the news that Aileen Cannon was chosen as the judge to oversee the Trump documents case. However, the MSNBC reaction was mild compared to the sheer panic over Cannon in an article published by Slate magazine that same day. Mark Joseph Stern, Slate's senior writer on legal matters sounds like he will spend many sleepless nights over his extreme fear that "Judge Aileen Cannon Can Absolutely Sink the Federal Prosecution of Trump."

The fact that Judge Cannon is causing such extreme angst among liberals makes me feel good.

She should immediately toss out the “lying” and “comspiracy” charges, and leave the remaining, extraordinarily-weak charges to hold the trial upon. The FBI isn’t God Almighty, or even a judge, and “lying” to them is not a crime.

Mark Joseph Stern should call up DOJ and FBI thugs and demand they frame the judge and have her arrested.

That’s how it’ done if effing banana republic police state hellholes like we’re becoming. I mean - why stop with Trump? Arrest all of us who dare to disagree with the white trash ‘elites’... Mao says power comes from the end of a gun, right Mark Joseph Stern.

I’m not sure it matters that she was a Trump pick. As a point of illustration let’s review some other Trump picks….Gen Milley, Chris Wray, Bill Barr, Kevin McCarthy, Ronna, almost any of his attorneys,,,,

You are right about the first two, but the last bit is wrong. ‘Lying’ to FBI is a crime. They can lie to you all day, but lying to them is a criminal offense. On top of that, your interview with the FBI is not recorded except in the agents’ notes of the interview.

Yeah, because only Democrat appointed judges like Garland, Lynch, Kagan, Sotomayer, Jackson et al, can be unbiased . . .

How many Trump appointed Judges have turned on Trump and sided with DOJ, FBI and court rulings. Quite a few

That's because psyops articles like this one are designed to pressure the judge into staying in a narrow lane.

The left never does the same thing, but they know the right will always succumb to the pressure.

Especially since now F-Troop categorizes saying something they disagree with as a “lie”.

What the left wants is a commie appointed judge to burn Trump at the stake

My guess it that she is going to be so terrified of being attacked by the left and the MSM that she will actually be a liability to Trump. Only if she has a very rare character will she stand up for what is right. Especially after the corrupt courts over ruled her last time.

For some reason I am reminded of the book The Liberal Hour by John Kenneth Galbraith (1960) I read when it came out in paperback.

His idea was American voters drift during a campaign but inside the voting booth on election day they face “the liberal hour” of decision and vote Democrat.

That seems to be what happens to Trump appointees and aides when they face the Deep State pressure to conform or be smeared for life. Loyalty? Integrity? Fuhhhhhgggeddddaboutit.

Probably better to get a fair trial than a dismissal. No double jeopardy.

Statute?

Not a lawyer, nor have I stayed at a Holiday Inn, but a quick Google search yielded: “Intentionally making false statements or concealing a material fact to a federal agent or investigator is a federal crime, punishable by up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.”
18 U.S.C. § 1001

Reagan appointed Sandra Day O’Conner.

Judges have always been a real quandary.

For some reason otherwise solid looking candidates, often
turn into something else on the SCOTUS.

I’m not sure what it is, but it may be something as simple as
the fact that they feel differently about their decisions,
recognizing how much power they have, and trying to be very
judicious because of it.

I think there’s an aspect of the job that messes with their
heads.

Then again, we all agree that there are real active
judges who think they should be legislating from the
bench.
