One in four people who have had cannabis-induced psychosis develop schizophrenia

“The increased risk of getting schizophrenia after drug-related psychosis is even higher than what we find in first-degree relatives of those who have been given the diagnosis,” Bramness says.

First-degree relatives are parents and children.

The risk of being diagnosed with the malady for sons and daughters of a sick mother or father is "only" five to ten per cent.

In other words, there is no other risk factor for schizophrenia that is higher than related to drug-induced psychoses.

Trauma, infections and moving to another country are other known risk factors for schizophrenia, but these increase the risk to a much smaller degree.

Schizophrenia linked to a drug is caused by the drug and not by that drug's culture.

And don't feel it does you any credit that you are on such intimate terms with a filthy gay that you introduce him into a discussion by his first name alone. That's your concern not mine.

You're babbling utter stupidity.

Fifty years ago I never experienced cannabis-induced psychosis and I never even heard of anybody that experienced cannabis-induced psychosis.

Cannabis potency has greatly increased since then, and so has availability. What your looking at today is a much more potent substance and a much wider audience of users.

My comment stands.   Those that are strung out were self medicating an already existing condition or didn't stop with the weed.   That is why it was always called a "gateway drug", but you would know that if you had any experience at all.   Your effort to push an agenda is apparent.
