Diversity Really is Our Strength - Immigration destroys social cohesion - Good.

Some people are naturally tribal and don’t like immigration. So they’ll use whatever justifications they can come up with to argue against it. I’ve seen the topic of immigration make capitalists talk like trade unionists when thinking about wages, and people who’ve never shown any interest in climate policy start worrying about carbon emissions. There’s been a lot of controversy around whether immigrants litter too much, but I never see the people making this complaint talk about littering in any other context. It makes me suspect that it might not be their main concern.

It’s kind of pointless to argue about climate policy with people who don’t think that much about the climate, or wages with people who believe that one set of laws of economics applies when you’re dealing with citizens and another when you’re dealing with foreigners. Most anti-immigration arguments can be dismissed as emotional outbursts that mask concerns people don’t want to be completely honest about.

Of all the anti-immigration arguments that have been made, I see two that one should take seriously and are not just covers for other concerns. These are that immigrants vote for the left, and, relatedly, that they make the country poorer and less functioning due to their lower IQs. I don’t think these are great arguments, but they’re the best that restrictionists have, so they will be the ones I address here. In the end, I don’t think there’s much to suggest we should be concerned about how many immigrants are currently coming to the United States, or the characteristics of newcomers, and in fact we should be letting a lot more people in.

Public Opinion is Already Socialist

This argument that immigrants will make the country more liberal is straightforward and has a surface plausibility, but I think it sort

Rich Hanania argues that immigration is the principal reason why the US doesn't have a Swedish-style social safety net, along with its growth-depressing economic consequences. An attempt to chip away at the socialist tendencies that result from excessive societal cohesion and prevent a further expansion to that social safety net, if a reduction isn't possible, may be the unspoken motivation behind European intakes of random refugees. Even with the furor surrounding refugees in Europe, census numbers indicate that Europe remains far whiter than the US. For instance, 87% of the UK is white, compared to 62% of the US.

I’m not opposed to immigrants in the least.

I’m opposed to illegal invaders.

There is a huge difference between those illegally entering the US and those who enter according the immigration law.

Congress sets quotas for those seeking permanent residency (green cards) and those seeking make application, are thoroughly vetted, and eventually are entered into the US. Part of the process is to agree support themselves and not become a burden on the US taxpayer. I believe it takes six months to a year to get in depending on the length of time it takes to vet them. We need legal immigrants. They are an asset to the nation.

The illegal alien is a fast growing cancer on the nation.

Exactly legal immigration thru legit ports of entry we need sneaking over the border we need a lot less of. If that requires rebuilding the old EAST GERMAN DEATH STRIP on the border than do it.

Controlled immigration, like we used to have has benefits. What we now have are invasions in our country, with zero vetting & the majority have nothing to offer except the ability to perform hard manual labor.

"Of course they NEVER differentiate between LEGAL and ILLEGAL immigration."

Exactamundo!

They never discuss 'diversity' of ideas, just skin color. The ultimate in racism. The term 'colorblind' is now a trigger word. The content of one's character might as well be the color of the shoes.

Exactly. Those were some the criteria my grandparents had to meet. They had to have sponsors, a job lined up, a place to live, be healthy, not a criminal, and otherwise not be a burden to society.

Does the moron leave the door to his house open and let anyone walking in front of the house, come in and help themselves to what he’s got?

If not he’s being awfully “tribal”.

Of course the NEVER differentiate between LEGAL and ILLEGAL immigration.

Nor should they.

If the problem is "But they aren't legal," then the problem could easily be solved by saying "Henceforth all immigration is legal immigration."

But that would really solve the problem, would it?

I’d rather live in a white Christian socialist country, like Sweden used to be, than in a capitalist Third World bazaar.

And he is wrong.

We should start importing people period.

Or our culture, which is unique in the world will vanish under a wave of the exact tribalism he babbles about opposing.

What a duffus.

And no they are not breaking us apart to prevent "socialism". They are doing it to prevent any social cohesion that is a threat to their power.

Go read about the Inca Empire. That was what they did. They took everybody and spread them out. No conquered people were allowed to stay in their own land with their own language and culture because that would allow people to organize and revolt.

This resulted in a divided people who were not able to resist when the elite were squabbling and the invaders arrived.

Which is what Hanania apparently longs for.

Tell Mr GlobalHomo that he can go sit on it and spin until he throws up.

This is the most inane, inverted illogic anyone has ever barfed out to somehow justify the most insane experiment ever tried: the mass invasion of the most successful nation in human history by people utterly alien and hostile to it.

The guy has bats in his belfry.

What I got out of it is that he believes that Americans are too stupid to support capitalism on the merits and would not oppose socialism if they weren’t motivated by racism. What a crock…
