Ukraine’s main counteroffensive against Russia’s invasion appears to have begun, multiple Western news agencies have reported.

The long-discussed Ukrainian counteroffensive may be underway, although not heralded as such by the Ukrainian government, but rather by a series of no-name comments from military figures briefing to Western newspapers. Indeed, Ukraine insisted the counteroffensive was not yet happening as recently as yesterday, but they have also recently said they would not discuss it for strategic reasons.

“...2/3rds of the world wakes up hungry every day...:

40 percent of the world’s top grade black soil areas are in Ukraine. You want to maximize yield per acre and get the food crops out efficiently? Don’t let the incompetent Russians do it.

I believe your statistic is quite bogus unless hunger is defined as “I want breakfast”.

Regards Ukraine, this entire war was avoidable. Sometimes you need to leave good enough alone and stop pushing.

I happen to be an American, and that means I put us first. Ukraine is costing me money, is making me less safe, is making the range of products and services available to me less... and your argument is “think about the hungry children in Ethiopia.”

There are a thousand different Ethiopia’s in this world, and each with many different facets. Picking one Ethiopia to latch onto, having strong feelings on that one topic, and pretending that only you have the answers as well as moral authority, is nonsense.

Since this war in Ukraine is a liability both in terms of us economically and in security, I want it to end even if not under the most ideal terms according to you. You should have thought about that when you supported the actions which led the war in the first place.

If you want to gamble, fine. But if you gamble and lose your ass, don’t expect others to be forced into flipping the bill for you because you’re all teary eyed and have feelings.

Folks told you what would happen if we keep pushing with NATO expansion into former Soviet Republics and areas that are in the Russian sphere of influence.

Congratulations, you won the stupid prize.

You are correct that my number was to high, it’s 1/3 of the world goes hungry: https://www.un.org/en/global-issues/food

I hope you don’t stay up every night or starve yourself worrying about that!

You’re the type that blames the rape victim because her hemline was above the knee. The reason countries are clamoring to get into NATO is because in Putin’s own words “Russia knows no borders”. Just what did the Republic of Georgia do to merit Putin’s armored columns? You are an appeaser pure and simple. I can see why you hated Fort Benning . There are real men there … not lovers of the boy-kisser Putin.

If you go to a bar alone where there are 30 guys and your the only girl, get shit faced and pass out, wake up and think you were raped, yes, you are partially to blame, regardless of what society says.

You’re the type that makes things simple for yourself and is convinced of their own virtue.

There are several who see Russia as their “protector,” i.e Armenia. Notice how we don’t mention the Armenian genocide much? I wonder why, with folks like Turkey in NATO.

It’s all about “interests” which are usually money and power if you dig deep enough. You just choose to paint your interests as the moral one and use these ideas of sovereignty, democracy, and human rights which are really meaningless concepts today (it once was different) since we no more represent these than Russia.

This is a war which was predictable and avoidable. A stupid waste of life and loss of fortune. Only those that are in the death and destruction industry are doing well on this one because neither our national security nor our economy is benefitting from it.
