An act of Insanity as Zelenskyy orders the destruction of the Kakhovskaya Hydroelectric Dam

The breach could result in devastating flooding, potentially killing thousands of civilians as well as disrupting the cooling systems for the nearby Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant.

The Kakhovskaya hydroelectric dam in Russia’s Kherson Region, located on the Dnepr River upstream from the city of Kherson, suffered significant damage on Tuesday morning, according to a local official and several videos shared on social media.

The upper part of the key infrastructure was “destroyed as a result of a strike,” the mayor of Novaya Kakhovka, Vladimir Leontyev, confirmed to RIA Novosti. While several of the dam’s floodgates were damaged and unleashed an uncontrolled stream of water, the underwater structure itself withstood the attack, the official claimed.

As a result of what Leontyev described as a major “terrorist act,” the water level downstream has risen by up to 2.5 meters, according to Leontyev, who added there was no need for evacuations thus far. He noted that the area has seen higher water levels during previous floods caused by heavy rainfall, but emphasized that local officials were focused on helping citizens as they prepare for a worst-case scenario.

“All services work in the city, all administration employees are in place. Electricity, gas, internet, and communications are available,” the mayor continued.

The dam was reportedly struck around 2am local time. A video captured from a drone has circulated on Telegram, purporting to show the aftermath of the attack, with streams of water seen flowing through the breach.

Moscow has repeatedly blamed Kiev for numerous attacks on the Kakhovskaya dam, warning that a breach could cause a disaster and result in the deaths of thousands of civilians. In turn, Ukraine claimed that Russia had been planning to blow up the dam itself in a false-flag operation aimed at framing Kiev for the flooding.

The persistent threat was cited as one of the main reasons for evacuating civilians from certain communities in the area, and an eventual pullout of Russian forces from the city of Kherson to the left bank of the Dnepr River.

Russian military and civilian officials, including acting Kherson Governor Vladimir Saldo, warned at the time that many areas in the region, including in Kherson city, could be flooded if the Kakhovskaya dam is destroyed.

###

Kiev indeed considered blowing up the dam to paralyze Moscow’s forces who were defending the city of Kherson – and even “conducted a test strike with a HIMARS launcher on one of the floodgates” – a former head of Ukraine’s Operational Command South, Major General Andrey Kovalchuk, admitted in an interview with the Washington Post in December.

Isn’t the simplest thing to agree on that both sides in a war have an agenda?

There was nothing visible in the video before the attack. So probably not a missile.

Probably an underwater delivery of a large mine.

Evidence I’ve seen suggests the dam was already damaged from prior shelling and ruptured on its own. Each side seems stunned and unprepared by the event.

The dam was fine until Russians bandits stole it. We see once again here that where Russia goes only misery follows.

It appears the dam was under Russian control, and there is no report of a Ukrainian attack.

Yet all these arrogant Russia lovers or Ukraine haters lined up to TELL everyone that Ukraine did it.

I have never seen a more ignorant disgusting bunch in this forum.

>> Thing is: while the Soviets controlled Russia, and are generally associated with “Russia” in the minds of many, the Soviets, at least the people in charge, were NOT RUSSIAN.

>> With the partial exception of Lenin (partially Russian at most), none of the famous evil Soviets, from Stalin, to Trotsky, to Felix Dzerzhinsky, to Lazar Kaganovich, to Genrich Yagoda, et cetera et cetera, were Russian. Even Brezhnev and Khrushchev were not Russian (those last two were Ukrainian, which is interesting given current history). <<

Holy CRAP, the Russian apologetics are going overload here. Russia sure as Hell was in control over the Soviet Union. Leaders who subdued (i.e., committed genocide against) their own people were trusted and rewarded by a system Hell-bent on making the case to the world and their own people that the Russians in fact represented a racially diverse society ready for global control.

Russians (including Russian Jews) always retained an absolute super-majority of the politburo. The Congress of the Russian Social Democratic Party was, no surprise, all Russian. The first called a Politburo was six Russians and one Georgian, Stalin. The 1939-1952 (the most deadly one) was 11 Russians, 2 Georgians and an Armenian.

Even Stalin being called a “Georgian” requires an asterisk. He was born, raised and educated in Georgia. But he lived from 1905 mostly in Russia. Stalin was selected by Lenin in 1912 precisely in order to have an “international” Bolshevik party. In 1917, he was elected to represent Petrograd, Russia.

Basically, the only non-Russians in the Politburo were Stalin, and Stalin’s two close allies from the Baku region, Mikoyan, the “Armenian,” and Beria, the Georgian. (I put “Armenian” in quotes because he served in Baku, Georgia.)

Kruschev and Brezhnev were both Russians. Brezhnev was born in Ukraine, but to two Russian parents. Kruschev was born in Russia, to two Russian parents, although one labored in the Donbas while Kruschev grew up apart from him in Kursk.

Six Ukrainians, including one Jew, were added in the 1952 Politburo, among more than 20 Russians.

Why would Russia blow up an damn it controlled that was providing water for territory it controlled? That premise makes no sense whatsoever.

Zelensky Accuses Russia Of Putting Little Nazi Stickers On The Helmets Of All His Soldiers

Quote
KYIV — Tensions flared today after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy accused Russia of sending espionage agents into his country to place little Nazi stickers on all his soldiers’ helmets.

“The fact that my entire army is wearing Nazi insignias on their uniforms and gear is entirely the fault of Russia,” said Zelenskyy while desperately scraping an “I love Hitler” sticker off the side of a tank. “This is an unforgivable provocation. I hereby call on the United States to drop all their atomic bombs on Russia immediately.” …

How did the Ukes get into a Soviet controlled area to place a charge?

On the other hand the flooding frees up most of the troops down stream to counter the offensives elsewhere. Even if it’s just for a short period.
