Russia's defences could be 'more fragile than thought', western officials have warned amid growing signs that Ukraine's counter-offensive has begun.
Ukrainian forces have advanced in Novodonetsk by up to five or six kilometres, it has emerged. Officials claim 'fierce battles are going on' for control of the settlement.
American and European military officials advising Kyiv have claimed that Kremlin defensive lines may be fragile, an insider told The Economist today.
Semyon Pegov, a prominent Kremlin-affiliated 'milblogger', confirmed that Ukraine had 'some success' in an attack in Novoselivka-Ugledar and claimed updates from the Russian-controlled region were 'more and more alarming every hour'.
Pegov, commonly known under his alias Wargonzo, said the war is 'heating up' and that today's attack was 'much more serious than yesterday'.
Ukrainian forces punched through Russian defensive lines in southeast Ukraine for a second day, with Russian officials saying today that Moscow's forces have foiled at least one assault.
Kyiv said their forces were indeed increasing offensive operations and making gains, but suggested some of the Russian announcements were misinformation as speculation grows about a widely anticipated counteroffensive after more than 15 months of war.
Vladimir Rogov, an official in the Russia-backed administration of Ukraine's partly occupied Zaporizhzhia province, said fighting resumed on its border with the eastern Donetsk province on Monday after Russian defenses beat back a Ukrainian advance the previous day.
'The enemy threw an even bigger force into the attack than yesterday (Sunday),' and the new attempt to break through the front line was 'more large-scale and organised,' Rogov said, adding: 'A battle is underway.'

Yesterday there were reports that Russia was gaining. Today reports that Russia is falling back.
I suspect that with troops behind them with orders to shoot them if the front line retreats, Russians will fight hard for a day, but by the second day they will be more afraid of the Ukraine troops than their own troops and cut and run. I wonder how many officers are being fragged by the poor meat grinder troops? THen their are the issues of running out of food and ammo with supply problems in the midst of war chaos. I suspect Ukraine army handles that better than the Russians.
We will probably see a number of days of seesaw reporting for the next month.
At some point the front line Russian troops will pivot and attack the Russian troops in their rear. There’s already been incidents of fratricide as retreating Russian forces have had to kill their way through guard forces, maybe we’ll see more.

Six mech battalions (3000 men) and two armor battalions (60 tanks) in less than 48 hours and Ukraine has already lost 26 tanks ( four hours ago).
NATO-Con’s and Biden supporters at FR shouldn’t get overly excited. Ukraine has manpower losses exceeding 950 men KIA since Sunday morning. These kinds of hollow victory’s will not help the Mini-Furher Zenlenski to get more arms or ammunition, nor can Ukraine do much with a 45% tank loss. Currently the Ukrainian forces have been shown on drone feeds to be crossisng open fields in excess of 1800 meters. The overhead compression of Russian artillery is 45 over or something like that, and there is no way Ukraine can maintain Armor and Mechanized formations utilizing open fields and mad dashes.
Russia did not fall prey to Uke pinning attacks, nor did Russia commit reserves to points on the map, but rather Ukraine has only managed to disperse her own troops. Today also in Belegrade Russia area, the supposed “free Russians” that went into Russia were “simply” Ukrainian soldiers and not former Russian troops.
The fog of war is becoming clearer every moment.

Russia has 5-6-7 channel lane blocking positions ahead of the Ukrainian troop movements. Russia designes these flexible defensive positions to force Ukraine to burn time, and to force them into kill zones

I think we should send some nukes to Ukraine. Let em throw em over the border into Russia. Let Russia nuke back. Problem aolved. Screw em all. Let God sort em out.
Mince words like Uke keyboard hero. Everyone knows Ukraine is not arming, training themselves nor do they have the money which the US claims it is sending to pay the Uke Military and civil government salaries. Sounds like a Proxy NATO force to me. The sooner Russia defeats Biden and Ukraine, the sooner US tax dollars can be kept at home.
