Authorities are investigating if the mysterious deaths of six women whose remains were found in and around Portland, Oregon over the past six months are connected and if a serial killer is on the loose.
The bodies of the half dozen women were found within 100 miles of each other on the sides of roads, in the woods or in secluded rural areas from February through last month, KGW8 reported.
Five different law enforcement agencies are investigating the women’s deaths — and at least three of the agencies have said they are working with the others to determine if the cases could be connected and have a single perpetrator, according to officials and the local publication.
In the most recent case, 22-year-old Ashley Real was found dead in a heavily wooded area near Eagle Creek on May 7 after she was last seen at a transit center in late March.
Another woman, Joanna Speaks also vanished in late March and her body was found in a rural area of Clark County on April 8. She died of blunt force trauma to the head and neck, according to the Clark County Medical Examiner’s Office which declared her death a homicide.

One of the magazine/books just out: True Crime:Cases That Shocked America (USA Today) says that John Norman Collins in Michigan was the first to be called a “serial killer.” Up to then police weren’t looking for them and expecting evidence to link the killings. Now it’s common.
He was abducting and killing women at the time I was working near where he did his evil. All the women were terrified. One coworker joked that she scared herself almost to death. She took the police advice to not simply get into a car because the killer might be hiding on the back seat or floor. As she checked through the window she screamed, thinking she saw the killer. It was only herself in the mirror of the car glass in the dark.
What is a "transit center?"
Peoples’ Republics are awesome, dude....
What is a “transit center?”
Bus Station. Intersectionality between Greyhound and Municipal.
There is so much crazy and lawlessness around Portland, thanks to Portland, that its hard to believe it could be just one person. People do certainly like to think in certain terms, though.
Was that the Oakland County guy?
Darling Daughter lives in Portland.
Oh Nully - I have two daughters, I can relate. Hope she has situational awareness, don’t go anywhere alone, especially at night. Have pepper spray, or bear spray, even better. If she’s not able to carry a firearm, at least carry something sharp.
RE: which killer in Michigan....
Good question.
I should begin by advising women to read the novel Love in the Time of Serial Killers by Alicia Thompson. Nothing to do with this one but the title should remind women to be careful with the creepy males around them.
