A 25-year-old woman was fatally shot and six other people were wounded early Sunday when gunfire erupted in Chicago during a remembrance for a man who died in a car crash, police said.
A large group of people had gathered about 1 a.m. to mark four years since a man’s fatal crash when there was an altercation and shots rang out, said Deputy Chief Adnardo Gutierrez of the Chicago Police Department, WLS-TV reported.
Seven people were wounded and one of them, a 25-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at a hospital, he said. The six other shooting victims were hospitalized, one in critical condition.
“They were out there celebrating and then something happened and a verbal altercation occurred and somebody began shooting, or multiple people began shooting,” Gutierrez said at a Sunday briefing.
Were any social workers there on the scene?
They probably were the shooters.

They don’t tell us jack any more. A man a woman a teenager teens people shots rang out. So much is left to the imagination. Telling us what they tell us really tells us nothing other than to be confused and beside that don’t bother because you aren’t going to get any useful information. It’s only just going to divide us as we ruminate on the facts that are not disclosed.

And the media says that conservatives are violent and will start firing over arguments regarding parking spaces (that’s their favorite hypothetical when advocating for gun control).

I was going to comment on that time: Nothing good happens after midnight. But Chicago is getting so bad that there’s no “safe” time of day anymore.

Doing something at 1AM is perfectly normal for people jacked-up on drugs. That would also explain the “something happened” which is also a common occurrence when jacked-up on drugs. The something was probably a dispute over who gets to sell drugs on that location. (There. See how easy it is to fill in between the official lines?)

Can we begin to make a statement that hanging around some memorial and funeral services isn’t “healthy”?
