Follow the old Eskimo/Inuit rule: “THree mouth meat, one mouth fat.”
Fat contains more than twice the calories per gram compared to carbos.
As to whether eating fat makes you fat depends how much of it you eat. Same with carbos.
And by the way metabolizing fat is not “storing fat” . Metabolizing fat is the process of turning fat into energy that the body needs for its activities.
Hope this helps.
They derive “calories” from the heat generated when it is burned in a calorimeter, which has nothing to do with the metabolic process.
You are familiar with calorimetry, right>
Shouldn't message from a moving car I guess.
Not true. You will be missing out on important nutrients. If your carbohydrates come from something other than junk food such as fruits and vegetables. The people that have I known who try to avoid carbohydrates completely have not been as healthy as those who just try to eat a balanced diet.
There are more and more studies showing that your gut microbiome is one of the major keys to good health. When you cut out entire food groups and especially your gut microbiome suffers and entire groups of bacteria that are important to your health die out.
People who follow diet charlatans with religious fervor are just plain gullible and playing games with their health. When you are young, and everything is still working properly you can get away with all sorts of nonsense without a lot of negative repercussions. When you reach the age that most of us on Free Republic have you no longer have that luxury.
"Many factors, including the foods you eat, can affect the health of your gut, including the type of bacteria it contains. The best way to get a healthy gut is to eat a fresh, balanced diet." "Fruits and vegetables are the best sources of nutrients for a healthy microbiome. They are high in fiber, which your body can’t digest. However, certain bacteria in your gut can digest fiber, which stimulates their growth." https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/improve-gut-bacteria#TOC_TITLE_HDR_3 Nearly all of the most popular fad diets have one goal underlying goal... convince a gullible segment of the population to purchase books, videos, supplements, snacks and prepackaged foods that all cost a small fortune when added together. This is a multi-billion dollar segment of the economy. And many people have made a lot of money. There are several long ongoing studies on people who have lived into their 90s and beyond and are still enjoying a healthy lifestyle. I have not seen one which demonstrated that a low carb, high fat and protein diet had any benefit related to longevity, but almost all show that a balanced diet is helpful.
You obviously have a religious type of faith in your diet belief system. You are hostile toward anyone who disagrees with you. And you will not believe anything that contradicts the basic tenants of your belief system. That is too bad for you. You have been snookered by diet charlatans trying to make a quick buck.
One of the keys to longevity and health in old age has been shown to be a balanced diet. When you cut healthy carbohydrates from your diet your gut microbiome suffers. This is regardless of what the carts of people at Walmart have in them.
One thing that I do not understand is the hostility toward people who shop at Walmart. I shop at the super Walmart near our home frequently. They have a wide assortment of everything for reasonable prices. My youngest daughter worked at Walmart for years while she was getting her accounting degree and raising a family. They treated her very well. So what the heck? Are you some type of union goon or what?

OK, so tell me how many calories does the body extract from a gram of fat through metabolism?
And how many from carbos?
Thank you for the info. I will do as you suggest.
Eating a variety of foods (meat, fish, eggs, veggies, fruit) provides you with all the nutrients you need. Grains (bread pasta, rice, etc) just provide empty calories.
