I thought we were totally against pipelines in So. Dak.
Appears that Summit has already paid off the judge - hire your own surveyors to pay a visit to his property.
Carbon capture pipeline????
This is such a scam. CO2 is necessary for plant life, it is not a poison. There are lots of crony capitalists going to get rich off this grift. It will not benefit society.
Carbon capture pipelines will accomplish exactly what? I’m assuming they are talking about carbon dioxide which is not a pollutant except in extremely high quantities.
If you look at the amount of money to be spent and consider that much of it is US tax money in grants, you can see why this is happening.
The opportunity for graft, theft, etc., is just too much.
It seems that any judge not scared of losing his job should have rightly sued Summit for trespassing on the man’s property. I think the owner would have been within his rights had he ran them off at the point of a shotgun. There is absolutely no excuse for the misuse of private property in this matter.
That's not setting up tripods to survey. Do that at my house and see what happens!
It's essentially toxic to humans.
Carbon Dioxide Health Hazard Information Sheet
CO2 is considered to be minimally toxic by inhalation. The primary health effects caused by CO2 are the result of its behavior as a simple asphyxiant. A simple asphyxiant is a gas which reduces or displaces the normal oxygen in breathing air.
Symptoms of mild CO2 exposure may include headache and drowsiness. At higher levels, rapid breathing, confusion, increased cardiac output, elevated blood pressure and increased arrhythmias may occur.
“On 21 August 1986, a limnic eruption at Lake Nyos in northwestern Cameroon killed 1,746 people and 3,500 livestock.[1]
The eruption triggered the sudden release of about 100,000–300,000 tons (1.6 million tons, according to some sources) of carbon dioxide (CO2).[2][3] The gas cloud initially rose at nearly 100 kilometres per hour (62 mph; 28 m/s) and then, being heavier than air, descended onto nearby villages, displacing all the air and suffocating people and livestock within 25 kilometres (16 mi) of the lake.[4][5]”

Your experience with local CO2 pipeline ruptures may vary.
CO2 pipelines? OK. lol
Go buy a large farm/ranch that these crazed CO2 h8ters want to run across your property and get back to me in 20 years.
Interesting account - I sort of remember that incident with that gas cloud. So yeah - concentrating it into a pipeline that might leak.... And I’m guessing Paladin2 isn’t talking about an extra 10 to 100 ppm of CO2 in the air as being “toxic”.
CO2 is a byproduct of ventilation. The lungs (alveoli) have a strong affinity for Carbon Dioxide, much greater than the attraction of O2. It is not exactly the inhalation of CO2 that is the problem but rather the inability to get it out of your system as part of regular metabolism. This is referred to as ‘ventilation.’
The amount of CO2 in the atmosphere is practically that of a ‘trace gas.’ Close to 99% of the atmosphere is Oxygen and Nitrogen. If a person is unable to eliminate CO2 from their system, this is a life threatening emergency.
CO2 is not toxic in the normal sense, but high concentrations should be avoided.
One’s exhalations are about 4% CO2, well above the nominal 0.04% average atmospheric concentration.
From an excerpt about C.S Lewis:
“’Scientists’ as such are not the target [said Lewis]. . . What we are obviously up against throughout the story is not scientists but officials.” This is an important distinction for Lewis. Scientific planning is not necessarily evil, “but ‘Under modern conditions any effective invitation to Hell will certainly appear in the guise of scientific planning’ as Hitler’s regime in fact did.”
Anyway - the effect of the TOTAL (iirc) amount of CO2 in the air (natural and manmade) was about .25%. I got 100 pennies out, trying to find the darkest ones. I put wite-out on one of the pennies and covered up 1/4 of it. Spread them out on the table and asked my kids if all of the fuss about this speck of white was worth changing our entire economy over and ruling our lives.
That said, I also talked to them about being good stewards of the earth and that we need to take care of our environment. But is this really where we should be spending so much money and effort on?
Bad behavior on the part of “Summit Carbon Solutions”, but my question is why “eminent domain” for a pipeline? Aren’t most pipelines a “right-of-way”/easement issue? i.e the farmer continues to use the land above the pipeline to farm, with the pipeline co. having easement rights for inspections/repairs, etc..
